AMD pushed back the launch of its Radeon HD 6900 series by three weeks. Originally due as soon as the last week of November, the top-end graphics cards will ship sometime during the week of December 13. No explanation was given beyond existing models were still in demand, and the dual-chip Radeon HD 5970 still had the lead over NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 580. The last-minute delay may have to do with inventory. The 6850 and 6870 are supposed to take the place of some higher-end 5700 and lower-end 5800 series cards but may have left AMD with excess stock at resellers that hadn't finished clearing out their supply.

Referring to the DLL would let phone owners sideload apps through the usual developer method but give the apps access to hardware functions that wouldn't be allowed otherwise.
