Sparkle offering 3D bundle with its overclocked GeForce GT 240s
Sparkle is trying to lure more people into embracing the 3D hype and to do that it has decided to offer a 3D bundle with its factory-overclocked and more or less custom GeForce GT 240 cards. The products that qualify for this special promotion are the GeForce GT 240 GDDR5 OC Edition models (GPU/shader/memory @ 561/1371/3400 MHz) with 512MB or 1GB of VRAM, and the Calibre series X240/X240G (630/1677/3600 MHz frequencies).
Those who'll look for and buy one of the mentioned cards will get the following, more or less 3D-related extras:
- a custom-designed, specialized anaglyph (red/cyan) glasses
- Nvidia software to transform over 350 standard PC games into full 3D
- Nvidia 3D Movie and Video player software, along with free downloads of 3D movies, pictures, and game previews
- four games - Portal, Half-life2: Death Match, Half-life 2:Lost Coast (not actually a game but a HDR demo) and Peggle Extreme

Fresh batch of GeForce GTX 400 pictures hit the web
In spite of Nvidia's wishes of a hush hush CeBIT will only pretty demos, both its upcoming GeForce GTX 480 and GTX 470 have been spied this week, with today's photos coming to add to the portfolio of the first GF100-based cards.
Since talk can be cheap we'll just say that below you can see both the GeForce GTX 480 and GTX 470 'naked', as well as they cooling solutions. The GTX 480 likely boasts 1536MB of GDDR5 memory (384-bit interface) and 512 CUDA cores, while the GTX packs 1280MB (320-bit) and 448 Cores. Both models are set for a March 26 launch but their final clocks and price tags are still unknown. Now contemplate away, we won't tell.

Intel debuts Atom-powered platform for storage devices
Expanding the use of its Atom processors, Intel has today revealed a new platform that features its low-power chips and is aimed towards use in networked home and small office/home office (SOHO) storage devices.
Intel's solution, which is made up of the Atom D410 (single-core) and D510 (dual-core) CPUs, and the 82801IR I/O Controller, is claimed to enable manufacturers to offer cost-effective, feature-rich and reliable systems that scale to support the demands of the evolving home and small office storage market.
The Atom-based platform features six PCI Express lanes, 12 USB 2.0 connectors, a port multiplier function and eSATA ports, hot plug capabilities, an integrated gigabit Ethernet MAC controller, and support for both Windows Home Server and Linux OSes.
According to Intel, the Atom storage platform is being adopted by LaCie, LG Electronics, QNAP, Synology and Thecus who are going to release new products based on it. One of the models outed is LG's N4B2 NAS device.

GPU Caps Viewer updated to version 1.8.4
Whether you have a new GPU or not do note that a update for the GPU Caps Viewer application has now been released and is awaiting download. The 1.8.4 version comes with ZoomGPU 1.4.1 and includes the following:
- New: added GeForce GT 320/330/340, Radeon HD 5450, HD 5830 and HD 4290 (AMD 890GX) to GPU database.
- New: GPU clocks reading is now regularly updated (interval = 2sec).
- Change: updated with PhysX 2.8.3 SDK.
- Change: temperature reading for ATI graphics cards.
- Change: clocks reading for ATI graphics cards (now for example, under WinXP, Radeon HD 4850 clocks are displayed).
- Bugfix: number of geometry shader texture units was wrong in OpenGL tab.
- Bugfix: crash in first panel when an OpenCL platform had no OpenCL device…

HP Mini 210 Vivienne Tam Edition to ship this month
First seen in September during New York's Fashion Week, the Mini 210 Vivienne Tam Edition netbook from HP is finally gearing up for release and will be reaching fashionistas this month. The 1-inch thick machine features an eye-catching 'Butterfly Lovers' design and a matching desktop theme with an animated butterfly start menu, high-performance audio software developed in collaboration with Beats by Dr. Dre, and the QuickWeb instant-on OS.
Spec wise, the trendy Mini 210 has a 10.1-inch display, an Atom CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and a battery enabling 5.5 hours of operation. Windows 7 Home Premium is pre-loaded.
The Mini 210 Vivienne Tam Edition will go on sale as of March 19 with a starting price of $599.

Corsair announces the Force series (SandForce) SSDs
Corsair is joining the SandForce brotherhood too as today it has officially revealed its first SandForce controller-equipped (SF-1200 in this case) solid state drives. Coming in 100GB and 200GB capacities, the Force series drives have a 2.5-inch form factor, a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips, TRIM support, a MTBF (mean time before failure) of 1 million hours, and deliver maximum read and write speeds of 285 MB/s and 275 MB/s, respectively.
"The Force Series are the fastest SSDs that Corsair has launched to date," stated Kevin Conley, Vice President of Engineering at Corsair. "We have been very impressed with the SandForce SSD Processor innovations in the months that we have been working with them, and we can't wait to get these extraordinarily fast SSDs into the hands of our most demanding customers."
The Force F100 and F200 SSDs are backed by a two-year warranty, come bundled with a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch bracket and are expected to start shipping within the next couple of weeks.

Sony VAIO M netbook appears in store listings
Eager beavers at several online stores have jumped the gun and provided the IT crowd with some details on the yet unannounced VAIO M netbook from our favorite PlayStation maker (BEd: And only), Sony. According to the early listings, the VAIO M weights 1.3kg, has a 10.1-inh (1024x600) LCD screen, a 1.66 GHz Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, GMA 3150 graphics and Windows 7 Starter.
The new netbooks is supposed to also have 10/100 LAN, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, a built-in webcam, and two color options (black and white).
The VAIO M can be found priced at £299 / $450 and would start shipping at the end of this month.

Zotac ZBOX HD-ID11 ION 2 barebone to cost $210
Zotac's recently-announced ZBOX HD-ID11 barebone doesn't have a solid release date yet but at least we now know how much it will cost (in the US) when it decides to reach stores - $210 (aka $209.99). This kind of cash will get you a compact and reasonably shiny box featuring an Atom D510 dual-core processor, one DDR2 SO-DIMM memory slot, a GT218 GPU with 16 Cores and 512MB of dedicated DDR3 memory, a 2.5-inch HDD/SSD bay, a 6-in-1 card reader, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity, and DVI, HDMI outputs.
One you get the memory and hard drive you should have a nice little HTPC that can play 1080p video and even accelerate CUDA-supporting apps. And you can game on it too, just not Crysis.

Point of View unveils two Pine Trail-powered Mobii notebooks
Point of View continues its adoption of the Pine Trail platform by announced a couple of Mobii notebooks that make use of it. Part of the Mobii Movie Theater line, the new 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch portable PCs feature the 1.66 GHz Atom N450 CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, have a native screen resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, and a HD accelerator enabling smooth 720p video playback.
Point of View's notebooks also have a multi-card reader, 10/100 LAN, 802.11b/g/n WiFi (Bluetooth 2.0 is optional), two 1.5W speakers and a HDMI output. The two Windows 7 Home Premium-loaded Mobii machines are expected to hit stores 'soon'.

Orange to make its services availabile on the MeeGo platform
The unity between the Moblin and Maemo platforms is getting more support as Intel and Orange have announced a collaboration that will see the latter make its multimedia services available on devices powered by the Atom processor and MeeGo platform. Orange's intention is to have its Signature Services like Orange TV and Orange Maps accessible to users of MeeGo-based devices, including smartphones, tablets and netbooks.
"Seventy-five percent of our customer base has yet to embrace the mobile internet. With the increasing number of phones and operating systems for customers to choose from, it is our role to make sure our's customer's journey into this richer mobile multimedia environment is simple and easy," said Yves Maitre, SVP Devices, Orange Group. "Our collaboration with Intel on the MeeGo software platform will not only ensure a broader choice in terms of screens and devices, but that customers continue to benefit from a consistent user experience delivered through Orange Signature services, including a custmized home-screen they trust and recognize, the highest quality network and secure and simplified billing."
As reveled by Intel and Nokia at the Mobile World Congress last month, the first MeeGo release is scheduled for a Q2 release, with devices powered by it expected to debut later this year.
