Captions Coming to YouTube Videos

YouTube has announced that all of its content will soon be available to the deaf and hard of hearing through the use of an automatic captioning system. Up till now, the service was limited to content available from select partners, but will now be available to the remainder of the sites content. The speech recognition technology has been in development at Google for some time and can handle various degrees of accent variation and pronunciation, among others. The system isn't flawless, and in the given example, sim card was mistaken for salmon.

Windows 7 Breaks Sales Record

The newest iteration of the Windows OS has sold 90 million copies since its release in October. According to Microsoft, that qualifies it as the fastest selling OS in history. Microsoft doesn't see any stop to the sales in the near future, and thinks they may start picking up soon. Most of the purchases seem to have been from individual users or small companies, with enterprise users remaining with Windows XP. Microsoft CFO Peter Klein has indicated that many enterprise customers are very interested in Windows 7, and will start to change from XP in the next year or two.
