Thecusآ® N4200 NAS with 6D Technology :: Posted by THRASHER2
03/01/2010 آ– Whether people are taking photos of their babyآ’s first steps, or filming their vacations with their digital camcorder, the need for more digital storage is growing at a rapid rate. For these users who need to make sure that their precious memories are protected, Thecusآ® has created the N4200 featuring exclusive 6D Technology.

Dual Core CPU - The N4200 is powered by the new Intelآ® Atomآ™ D510 dual-core processor. Running at 1.66GHz, this CPU, paired with 1GB of DDR2 memory, delivers quick system response and can even smoothly handle multiple client access. Data can be accessed and transferred quickly, so you donآ’t have to wait around to enjoy your favorite movies, music, photos and more. The N4200آ’s Intelآ® Atomآ™ D510 dual-core CPU offers wicked performance for the home user.

Dual DOM Technology - The Disk On Module (DOM) of a NAS device contains all of the software necessary to operate the machine. Should it fail for any reason, your NAS will become inaccessible and your data could be at risk. To ensure maximum uptime, the N4200 includes Thecusآ®آ’ Dual DOM Technology, which allows a secondary DOM to reprogram the primary one if anything goes wrong.

Dual Displays - Take control of your NAS with the N4200آ’s Dual Display Technology. The N4200 comes with an LCD display that shows you critical system information, while the 2.8آ” OLED display allows you to change a number of settings right from the device including WAN, LAN, Link Aggregation and language. Managing your home NAS just doesnآ’t get any easier than with the N4200.

Dual Power - If the power happens to go out during a critical firmware upgrade, your NAS could be in trouble. The N4200 comes equipped with its own Battery Backup Module (BBM) آ– a lithium-ion battery pack that kicks in during a power outage and allows the system to save unwritten data to the hard disks, thereby maintaining data integrity.

Dual HDD Profile Support آ– The N4200 features combo drive bays that allow users to install either 2.5آ” or 3.5آ” hard disks. Users can install the smaller 2.5آ” drives to save power and lower noise, or choose 3.5آ” drives for huge capacity, making the N4200 an incredibly flexible NAS.

Dual RAID آ– Why choose between performance and security? The N4200 allows you to configure two RAID modes simultaneously for optimum data transfer rates and rock-solid data integrity. With the power of Dual RAID, the N4200 is your digital data fortress.

Fast, secure, and incredibly easy-to-use, the N4200 with 6D Technology is the ideal storage device for the digital lifestyle.

Second Generation NVIDIA ION Announced @ Legit Reviews :: Posted by THRASHER2
"The next generation of the NVIDIA ION architecture brings some much needed changes in order to bring forth the performance desired by low-power, low-performance mobile users. While we have heard the ION 2 name bounced around leading up to the launch, it seems NVIDIA is just referring to the platform changes as the next generation of NVIDIA ION. So for those researching which netbook to purchase, keep in mind that NVIDIA ION netbooks and nettops featuring an Intel Atom N2xx or N3xx processor have the previous generation of ION with shared graphics and system memory. NVIDIA ION systems with an Intel Atom N4xx, D4xx or D5xx processor would have the new generation of NVIDIA ION with dedicated graphics memory instead of sharing with the system memory..."

AMD 890GX Chipset Review - SATA 6G goes native :: Posted by THRASHER2
"The addition of native SATA 6G support should have been a giant
addition to the chipset. Unfortunately, my testing has shown initial issues
with this implementation. AMD has been kicked around for a long time for
their southbridge I/O performance in USB and SATA, and the SB850 continues
that not-so-proud tradition. I do not know if this is simply a BIOS issue,
or new drivers need to be sent along, but when even SATA 1 and 2 performance
are down in the dumps compared to the previous generation, a lot of
questions should be asked of AMD."

AMD 890GX SB850 Chipset Debut: Phenom II X6 Ready :: Posted by THRASHER2
It has been quite a while since AMD launched a new high-end desktop chipset. The 790FX has been riding high at the top of AMD's line-up for over two years now. It has been paired to newer Southbridge chips and AMD did follow up with the 790GX about a year and half ago, but for all intents and purposes AMD's flagship desktop chipset has remained unchanged for what is equivalent to an eternity in Internet-years.

Today, however, a new chipset will finally supplant the 790FX/GX at the top of AMD's line-up, the 890GX. As its name suggests, the 890GX features an integrated graphics core, but there's more to the story than just graphics. AMD has specifically stated that the 890GX will officially support upcoming 6-Core Phenom II X6 processors and courtesy of a new Southbridge, the SB850, the AMD 890GX is the first core logic chipset to natively support SATA 6G...

Thermaltake Silent 1156 Heatsink Review @ Ninjalane :: Posted by THRASHER2
Our heatsink tests are designed to look at cooling capacity at two different heat levels. The difference between the two determines how well a cooler can handle the different heat loads. The ThermalTake Silent 1156 did an excellent job in our tests by easily outperforming the stock 1156 cooler and proving it could handle a minor overclock up to 3.2Ghz.

NVIDIA ION 2 Preview, Optimus Enabled :: Posted by THRASHER2
Ever since NVIDIA's original ION chipset proved it was possible to pair Intel's low-power Atom processor to a relatively powerful graphics core and attain acceptable multimedia performance, the market has been curious as to what NVIDIA's Ion 2 Next-Generation Ion product might offer. This has also been a topic of some discussion between Intel, NVIDIA, and the FTC. Because Intel's next-generation Atom platform is a system-on-chip (SoC), NVIDIA had to adjust its own plans for NG-Ion...

Asrock H55M Pro Socket 1156 Motherboard @ Pro-Clockers :: Posted by THRASHER2
The H55 is the newest thing to come from Intel. Not surprisingly, Asrock was right there to send out boards to all review sites. We have often seen this from the 'big' companies. The first of the boards released was the H55M Pro. As all H55 motherboards, the H55Pro-M is a micro ATX offering with dual 16x PCIe slots for Crossfire support, four DIMM slots and support for DDR3 2600. We definitely can't call Asrock a budget motherboard maker anymore. There are many more features the new board has to offer and we will discuss them as we look over it. Now, we really want to know how well it will overclock. We all want to get a little bit more out of the motherboard and processor to make it worth more for our money.

We have hands-on time with Sapphire's AMD Radeon HD 5970 4GB :: Posted by THRASHER2
We bet that the folks at AMD thought long and hard as to how they could scupper NVIDIA plans for its forthcoming GeForce GTX 480 GPU. Nothing like upstaging your competitor's best efforts, eh!

Probably conceding that Fermi will be faster than the Radeon HD 5870 and may give the twin-GPU Radeon HD 5970 a run for its money, AMD will be trying to trump NVIDIA's launch by releasing the Radeon HD 5970 4GB model.
