PSP Go Launched - Consumer Reaction Mixed

PSP Go (PSP-N1000)

PSP Go was available for sale in retail shops on Thursday in US, Europe and Asia. Opinions and reactions were mixed as the Go was highly priced, putting off many prospective customers. For comparison, the new PSP Go (PSP-N1000) retails at a MSRP of USD$249.99 whilst the older PSP-3000 at USD$169.99 in the US. (On a sidenote, the PSP Go retails for $412 in Singapore)

Update on AMD/Nvidia Anti-Aliasing/PhysX controversy
Right after the release of Cypress (HD 5800 series), several controversies have arisen amongst the gaming community, accusing Nvidia of anti-competitive practices by disabling software support in presence of ATI Radeon graphics cards.

The first instance was when Nvidia disabled PhysX if used together with an ATI card. While this was done in a Forceware dated July, this news has only come into prominence following the Cypress releases. Many who have bought ATI Radeon graphics cards have retained there old PhysX-compatible Nvidia Geforce cards for the sole intention of running PhysX on it. Some have also bought cheaper Nvidia Geforce cards just so they could run PhysX. However, if you have a ATI Radeon card in your system doing graphics, you cannot the secondary Nvidia card to do PhysX - your system must be running Nvidia cards exclusively.

[Rumour] Nvidia Fermi to release in three variants
Fudzilla reports that Nvidia's Fermi architecture-based GF100 chips will ship in three variants.

The three variants are a dual-GPU flagship, a high-end single GPU and a performance single GPU - all based on the same GF100 chip.

First up is the full version - with all 16 SM units - running at maximum clock speeds. This will be the single GPU flagship, a replacement for the GTX 285. It is expected to end up faster than the Radeon HD 5870, while being more expensive, hotter and bigger as well.

Automated Facebook Attacks

Roger Thompson, chief research officer for AVG, has warned Facebook users about a number of fake profiles with malicious links. Apparently, the spyware is able create numerous bogus Facebook accounts automatically, bypassing the Facebook Capcha (the image of letters which are required for a new account). All the accounts have different profiles but the same picture and link was used. Better warn your family and friends about this malware and always remember this: Never ever click on dodgy links!

Sophisticated Trojan Steals Euro 300K from German Banks


A group of researchers at Finjan has exposed a cyber-gang which has created an ultra-sneaky banking Trojan that had looted about 300,000 (equivalent of SGD$619,860) from German bank accounts over a 22-day period.
