Zotac adding HDMI connectivity to more of its cards
Claiming the need for advancement, Zotac has decided to immediately replace the TV Out on its GeForce GTS 250, 9 series and 8400 GS cards with a shiny, HDMI output. Since DisplayPort is only featured on few displays, HDMI, which is currently used by multiple desktop monitors and TVs, seems the perfect fit for today's graphics cards so kudos to Zotac for moving in this direction.
"Zotac is always leading the way with our graphics cards. As new displays are shedding old connections, it's the perfect time for us to move ahead do the same," said Carsten Berger, marketing director, Zotac International.
For more info about Zotac's HDMI-equipped graphics card line-up see this page.

Oracle slapped with $10,000 fine for false advertising
Oracle Corp. has been slapped with an inconvenient $10,000 fine by the Transaction processing Performance Council (the TPC), following claims that the performance of Sun and Oracle servers are not what they boast.
Advertisements in the Wall Street Journal and the Economist state clearly 'Sun + Oracle = Faster', promising a significant boost over the likes of IBM's Power 595 servers... which they say is proven by TCP benchmarks. Oops.
The adverts and the associated Oracle web site, which has now been taken offline, stated that Oracle would have definitive figures to back up the claims on 14 October, but the lack of immediate proof sparked a complaint from IBM to the TPC.
"The TPC requires that claims based on TPC benchmarks must be demonstrable using publicly available data from official TPC benchmark results," said a TPC spokesman.
TPC ruled that the advertisement had violated its fair use rules and imposed the fine. The TPC has also ordered Oracle to "take all steps necessary to ensure that the ad will not be published again", and to remove the contents of the related promotional web site.
This doesn't exactly come at the best time for Oracle, as the company is in the process of acquiring Sun Microsystems for a whopping أ‚آ£5.1 billion. The problem isn't with the value of the fine as you might expect, but with the hit on the company's honest reputation - as their deal with Sun is already being delayed by an in-depth investigation by European regulators.

First Windows 7 Party Pack images are out
The first pictures of Microsoft's Windows 7 Party Pack are out now - ahead of the rest of the world, from the home of a technology blogger in the Caribbean.
Funnily enough, the blogger wrote to Microsoft in frustration that the Caribbean was one of the very few countries in the entire world that was not being represented on the Party Host website - well low and behold, Microsoft instantly apologised and sent a shiny gift wrapped box of Windows 7 love!
Ars Technica are reporting that this was because the blogger emailed Steve Ballmer directly - but regardless his gift was complimentary and ahead of the other hosts to make up for their mistake.
Included in the pack was the following:
- Windows 7 tote bags
- Windows 7 branded napkins
- Puzzle Pack
- Windows 7 Playing Cards
- Colour Poster
- Windows 7 Signature Edition
All Windows 7 party hosts are expected to receive their packs by October 10 to give them time to plan ahead for their shin-digs.
