It's hardly practical--or economical--but if you're into forward-thinking tech, this portable that starts at around $2000-plus is worth a good longing look. Microsoft and EU settle, phishing scams, busts
Capping our list of top IT news stories this week, Microsoft and the European Commission reached accord on the ongoing antitrust case against the company. While this will free up some room in future top-news lists, we expect that we'll continue to have no end of bad news related to phishing scams, of which there was plenty this week as well. Thankfully, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison added some levity to the mix, though his brand of joking undoubtedly fell flat at Salesforce.com.

Automatically mute sound before meetings
If your only Mac is a laptop, and you take it with you to meetings, classes, or other such activities, you're probably used to muting your machine before the event starts, then unmuting it once the event ends. While this is clearly not hard to do, it can be somewhat embarrassing if you forget to mute your Mac, only to have it loudly announce the arrival of a new e-mail, Tweet, or iChat message during the middle of a lecture.
