iPhones Are Cool, but Can They Play Crysis?
Being able to play Crysis has been the standard as of late for judging how powerful a computer is. Surely the iPhone would be brought to its knees just thinking about it, or would it? At an AMD event revealing the next generation of GPU architecture, a third party company did just that. OTOY was able to take advantage of more than double the floating-point calculating power, when compared to the current top of ATI cards, to run a demo of Crysis on an iPhone. This was accomplished by using a separate server to render the game, and then transferring the video to the iPhone. However, the iPhone user is in complete control of the game. The possibilities are great for the technology from OTOY, as games could be hosted entirely at render farms, with gamers paying subscription costs to play the games.

Motorola Customizing Android to its Liking
Motorola released the Cliq this week, a new phone based on the Android operating system from Google. But, Motorola went a bit further and customized the OS into MotoBlur, its own version of Android. MotoBlur will provide visual and functional changes over the traditional Android installation, with an emphasis on communication and social networking. This could lead other companies to modify Android to fit their needs, and in doing so create an endless number of choices for mobile phone users.
