Scientists Find Limits for Sticky Pads
Geckos are very interesting animals in part because of their ability to climb on smooth surfaces at any angle. For a long time now, researchers have been trying to replicate the adhesive quality of gecko toes, but it appears this is not a means to allow humans to climb walls. Researchers at the University of Cambridge examined various species that also evolved sticky foot pads and found there is a size limit.
When it comes to successfully sticking to a surface, an animal's volume and surface area must be considered. As animals become larger, their volume and surface area both increase, but volume, which directly relates to mass, increases much faster than surface area. As it is the surface area that relates to the adhesion, more and more of an animal's body would have to become adhesive to successfully hold it. While a gecko only needs about 2% of its surface area to be sticky pads, a human would need about 40% to be sticky, or 80% on just one side.
Obviously such large pads are infeasible for humans, but we should not abandon hope just yet. There are some animals larger than geckos that developed separate means of sticking to surfaces by evolving stickier pads, but the exact mechanisms involved are not well understood. Also adhesives that replicate gecko feet could still find other applications than scaling buildings.

AMD is Utilizing New Code Names for Future GPUs
Raja Koduri, the head of the Radeon Technologies Group at AMD, has publicly revealed that the company will begin to utilize new code names for its future GPUs. More specifically, the company is going to be moving away from island code names and will begin to name its future GPU architectures after various stars, star systems, and galaxies. Going forward, AMD plans to give each new graphics architecture a unifying code name, which is something that the company officially has not been doing for a number of years. The transition to names that are derived from stars, star systems, and galaxies begins with Polaris, with Koduri noting that "Polaris is the beginning of our journey through space."

Steam Hardware Survey Details NVIDIA Dominance
As part of the Steam hardware survey, Valve periodically gathers information on the computer specifications of gamers. The most recent results from December 2015 are about what you would expect, with NVIDIA dominating the rankings as a whole and taking the top spot as well. The GeForce GTX 970 is the most popular graphics option, edging out the Intel HD Graphics 4000 by 0.07%. The integrated option from Intel has been losing ground for several months, indicating that users are "shifting away from integrated graphics cards in favor of discrete graphics cards." The GeForce GTX 960 saw the largest monthly increase from November while the GTX 760 saw a decrease, representing a shift to the latest mid-range offering. The total GPU share of each manufacturer is 54.61% for NVIDIA, 26.33% for AMD, 18.66% for Intel, and 0.5% for other.
