Windows 10: Upgrade Now or Upgrade Tonight
We've said it a million times, nagging people to upgrade to Windows 10 is just going to piss people off. Nagging people with options like these just makes things worse.

On Sunday, Microsoft's over-the-top pushiness (or is it hubris? led the company to introduce a new Upgrade to Windows 10 dialog, shown in the screenshot. Windows 7 and 8.1 users who click on the Get Windows 10 icon in the system tray are now presented with two options: Upgrade now or Upgrade tonight. As you can see, there's no option to defer the upgrade, and no obvious way (short of the "X" in the upper-right corner) to dismiss the ad.

The FCC Has Received Over 13K Complaints About Comcast's Data Caps
Even though the company is huge and serves millions of customers, 13,000 complaints about data caps sure seems awful high. It makes you wonder what the numbers are for other large ISPs.

We were told that more than 13,000 complaints had already been filed with the Federal Communications Commission that fit our search criteria about Comcast's unethical practice of imposing data caps. Due to the time it would take to process all 13,000+ of these complaints, we weren't able to get our hands on all of these complaints, but we did obtain just under 2,000 of them.

California Says Self-Driving Cars Must Have A Driver For Now
I think it is a good idea to have a driver in all self-driving cars in case something goes wrong. Don't you agree?

California, the largest car market in the United States, issued draft rules on Wednesday for self-driving cars, requiring a licensed driver inside the vehicle in case of failure in a plan that stresses safety. The regulations by the Department of Motor Vehicles are intended to help nurture the state's nascent but fast-growing autonomous vehicle technology industry while allowing traditional car companies and new entrants like Alphabet Inc and Apple Inc to safely deploy their self-driving cars already in development.

Large Hadron Collider May Have Detected A New Particle
Two independent teams of physicists working at the Large Hadron Collider have reported seeing traces of what they believe could be a previously unknown particle.

The rejuvenated Large Hadron Collider might have achieved another breakthrough... provided everything lines up, that is. Two teams of CERN scientists have detected an excess of gamma ray pairs that they suspect might represent the radioactive decay of a previously unknown particle. The data is far from conclusive (there's a 1 in 93 chance that it's nothing), and the researchers don't expect to have enough data until they present at a convention next summer. However, it's rare that two groups notice the same anomaly -- that's frequently a sign that something's up.
