Here we go again. This time, a law student is being charged for crashing a drone into a football stadium. Make your bets on when the next drone crash will happen.

No one was injured in Kentucky when the drone crashed into suite level glass before the game that drew more than 62,000 fans, according to authorities. A military skydiver performing during pregame festivities told authorities the device came within 20 feet (6 meters) of his parachute, police said. The parachutist told police "he had to take emergency evasive maneuvers to avoid contact with the drone," the statement said.

Sony Changes Stance On Waterproof Phones: Do Not Use Underwater
This is kind of weird because Xperia marketing typically presents photos that show the phones or tablets being submerged underwater. I guess owners should think twice before using one around a pool or in heavy rain.

If you head over to Sony Mobile's support page on water and dust protection, you will find several statements on Sony's new policy including: "Remember not to use the device underwater" and "The IP rating of your device was achieved in laboratory conditions in standby mode, so you should not use the device underwater, such as taking pictures."

Clip-On Handgun Attachment Makes Bullets Non-Lethal
I'm going to guess that getting shot by this still hurts like hell, though.

Based in part on feedback from law enforcement and special forces, the Alternative consists of a plastic carrier that normally sits in a belt pouch. It's designed to fit over the muzzle of a semiautomatic pistol, with installation a one-handed operation that doesn't require the officer to look away from the situation. The carrier is designed not to interfere with the pistol's sights or under-barrel rail, which may carry a torch or laser sight.

First Library To Support Anonymous Internet Browsing Effort Stops After DHS Email
The Department of Homeland Security and local police didn't like the idea of a library running a Tor exit relay.

In July, the Kilton Public Library in Lebanon, New Hampshire, was the first library in the country to become part of the anonymous Web surfing service Tor. The library allowed Tor users around the world to bounce their Internet traffic through the library, thus masking users' locations. Soon after state authorities received an email about it from an agent at the Department of Homeland Security.

What's Next After 25 Years Of Wi-Fi?
It's been 25 years since the inception of IEEE 802.11. This interview sheds a little light into the future of the technology, such as the 60 GHz range, which could provide throughput of up to 20 Gb/s.

The IEEE 802.11 wireless technology standard has come a long way since it first originated from a working group meeting in September 1990. Early Wi-Fi supported data rates of just 2 megabits per second. By comparison, the latest Wi-Fi standard supports 3,500 times faster data rates, ranging up to 7 gigabits per second.

Xbox One Exec: No Doubt We Have The Best Exclusives This Holiday
With games like Forza Motorsport 6 and Halo 5: Guardians, I feel pretty inclined to agree that the Xbox One has a nice lineup for the holidays. I'm pretty sure I'm going to hold out for the PC version of Rise of the Tomb Raider, though.

"The amount of big, blockbuster, exclusive titles that you can get this holiday on Xbox is just stunning," he told Official Xbox Magazine, as reported by sister site GamesRadar. "I mean, it's really amazing. I think if you look at our competition, there's no way that people can really stack up with our exclusive content."

New Pluto Images Detail Dwarf Planet's Complex Surface
I never imagined we would get such crisp photos of something nearly 5 billion miles away. The images reveal a "diversity of landforms and complexity of processes that rival anything we've seen in the solar system."

They reveal new features as diverse as possible dunes, nitrogen ice flows that apparently oozed out of mountainous regions onto plains, and even networks of valleys that may have been carved by material flowing over Pluto's surface. They also show large regions that display chaotically jumbled mountains reminiscent of disrupted terrains on Jupiter's icy moon Europa.

The US Owes The World $4 Trillion For Trashing The Climate
Based on data from a study published in Nature Climate Change, the US's climate debt supposedly totals in the trillions of dollars.

There are 250 billion tons of carbon debt accumulated since 1990, Matthews figures, so that amounts to $10 trillion. Yes, trillion—$10 trillion that polluting industrial nations owe climate creditor nations like India, China, and Nigeria who have stayed under their carbon budgets. (In the case of China, it won't be for long.) Seeing as how the US is responsible for 40 percent of those emissions—or 1 billion tons—it would owe $4 trillion.

Mozilla Quietly Deploys Built-In Firefox Advertising
At this rate, I feel like Mozilla wants everyone to stop using Firefox or something.

…Firefox does send your browser history to Mozilla. Once there, your raw data is stored in the system's storage and analysis engine, Disco. The aggregated data is then saved to a data warehouse, Redshift. This data is then used to create high-level aggregate reports for advertisers.

Google Fiber Planned For Irvine, Louisville, and San Diego
If all goes according to plan, three new cities will be getting a serious boost of speed. I wonder how long I will have to wait for Google Fiber to come to the tri-state area.

Today, we're inviting three more cities—Irvine, CA, Louisville, KY, and San Diego, CA—to work with us to explore bringing Google Fiber to their communities. Our next step is to begin a joint planning process with city leaders, just as we did when we began working with nine metro areas last year.
