Halo 5: Guardians Opening Cinematic and Trailer
In case you missed it, here's the opening cinematic to Halo 5: Guardians. I think it's the one of the best openings I've seen in a while. Fireteam Osiris is the counterpart to Master Chief's Blue Team in the upcoming game. There is actually a newer trailer I'll also link to, though it's pretty low quality since it was shot in a cinema.

Wireless Technology Aims to Kill the Power Cord
A world without power cords would be awesome, right? It sounds like there will be at least two technologies that will allow devices to remain charged without being plugged in.
The Los Angeles-based company has developed technology that transmits ultrasonic waves (at a register well beyond what's audible) that are translated by devices as a microscopic quiver; this vibration is converted back into an electrical charge to power anything with a battery, no wires or wall plugs required.

A Look At Aspect Ratios In Film
The way I see it is that wider aspect ratios (21:9) are great for an epic or expansive look, while more common ratios (16:9) are useful for scenes that require intimacy. I actually prefer the latter; it's nice not to have black bars, and I like the bigger details that come with traditional widescreen.

Porn App Took Secret Photos Of Users
Do people not realize they can get porn without an app? Even worse is that this app can't even be found in official stores; it has to be manually installed.
Adult Player appeared to offer pornography, but secretly took pictures of users with the phone's front-facing camera. It then locked the user's device and displayed a demand for $500 (£330) which was difficult to bypass. One security expert told the BBC that ransomware was a lucrative and growing area of cybercrime.

PewDiePie Becomes First YouTuber To Surpass 10 Billion Views
Is it weird that I haven't seen a single one of this guy's videos? Are there any fans that could elaborate on his appeal?
Kjellberg created the PewDiePie channel six years ago. In December of 2012, he signed a deal with online video content creator Maker Studios, which is now owned by Disney.

Spider Clock Reminds You That Time Creeps Up On Us All
Imagine if this thing's alarm mode was it crawling on your faceI'd have no more trouble getting up on time.
In Arachnophobia, the clock has been reimagined as the body of a spider, its mechanical movement engineered to sit partially outside the body as the spider's head, where it can be viewed and admired as it sits on a table, or mounted to a wall.

Canon Has A 250-Megapixel Sensor That Fits In A DSLR
Boy, and I thought the 36MP sensor in my camera was special. Canon claims that its new sensor can capture a photo of a plane from 11 miles away and have its lettering distinguishable.
Rather than aiming for the retail market, Canon is targeting the new sensor at "specialized surveillance and crime prevention tools, ultra-high resolution measuring instruments and other industrial equipment." The actual resolution of the sensor is 19,580 x 12,600 pixels, or 246.7 megapixels, but Canon is being liberal with its rounding.

Kill The Password
I guess the author has a point when it comes to passwords being useless if there's a breach. But he also seems to be complaining about trivial things that could be solved with password managers such as KeePass.
The static password sitting in a database, is perhaps the dumbest idea anyone ever came up with for security. As soon as a resourceful (or even not terribly bright) hacker finds his or her way into the database, as we've learned time and time again, the passwords are sitting there for the taking, a giant treasure chest, a hacker's wet dream.

Why Security Experts Are Using An Ancient Email Format In 2015
While everyone else is shooting their messages off in Outlook or Gmail, many security experts are sticking with simpler and more secure command-line email clients like mutt.
"Simplicity is security," said Marek Tuszynski of the Tactical Technology Collective, an NGO that trains activists and reporters to use digital privacy and security tools. "Command line tools are generally characterised by much simpler design, much fewer lines of code, and the non-existence of vulnerable code (Java, Flash etc)all of which generally means better security (less bugs, more stability)."

Huge Ritual Arena Discovered Near Stonehenge
This is a really cool find, but can someone show me some aliens already.
The stones are thought to have been hauled into position more than 4,500 years ago to form the southern edge of a ritual arena centred on a natural depression. The stones appear to have joined up with a chalk ridge that had been cut into to accentuate the natural border. "We presume it to be a ritual arena of some sort," said Gaffney, whose team has mapped the terrain and subsurface features around Stonehenge with a rich suite of instruments.

The PC Industry Is Betting Big On Gamers
The actions of certain hardware makers would suggest that if anyone is going to boost slumping PC sales, it is gamers. The PC gaming market made billions in sales last yeardouble the revenues from console salesand is projected to increase over the coming years.
The PC gaming market produced $21.5 billion in hardware sales last year, according to data from Jon Peddie Research, which is more than double the revenues derived from console sales. More notably, unlike the broader PC market, which continues shrinking, gaming PC sales are projected to increase over the next couple of years.

Seagate Drives At Risk Of Data Theft Over Hidden Root Account
Those who are running certain wireless Seagate drives should update their hardware to the latest firmware right away; flaws have been found that could give attackers access to the device.
The vulnerability is just one of many flaws in three wireless hard drives manufactured by the company, the advisory said. Other flaws included in the advisory allow an attacker to "directly download files from anywhere on the file system." Seagate Wireless Plus Mobile Storage, Seagate Wireless Mobile Storage, and the company's LaCie Fuel hard drives are said to be affected by the flaw.

The Real Reason Netflix Won't Offer Offline Downloads
If I'm reading this right, Netflix won't let you download anything because they think you'll be overwhelmed when given the choice.
" you have to remember that you want to download this thing. It's not going to be instant, you have to have the right storage on your device, you have to manage it, and I'm just not sure people are actually that compelled to do that, and that it's worth providing that level of complexity."

Ubisoft Plans To Open Theme Park In Malaysia In 2020
I just hope the attractions at this Ubisoft theme park aren't as broken as some of their games on launch. I mean, a buggy Assassin's Creed "Leap of Faith" ride could be pretty disastrous, don't you think?
Everything will be indoors and spread across 10,000 square meters, and feature rides, shows "and other attractions" all based around Ubisoft's games. Malaysian theme park developer RSG will own and operate the park, with Ubisoft - Ubisoft Motion Pictures specifically - in creative control.

Steve Wozniak Loves The New Steve Jobs Movie
I was going to see it anyway because of Michael Fassbender (who reportedly gives an Oscar-worthy performance), but Woz seems to be pretty impressed by the new Steve Jobs film. Will you be seeing it?
Wozniak told me that, unlike the Jobs biopic with Ashton Kutcher, this one is totally authentic. "I saw a rough cut and I felt like I was actually watching Steve Jobs and the others (including Rogen's dead-on portrayal of Wozniak), not actors playing them, I give full credit to Danny Boyle and Aaron Sorkin for getting it so right," he enthusiastically told me.
