Intel: Criminals Getting Better At Data Exfiltration
According to a new report from Intel Security, crooks are finding new ways smuggle data out of the workplace.
For example, if a company's employees post pictures to Twitter, attackers can embed data into images so that the image still looks normal to the human eye, and attach the image to an otherwise harmless-sounding Twitter post. "The attacker can then follow the Twitter feed," said Grobman. "It looks legitimate but it is actually smuggling data out."

LinkedIn Slams Google for Its 'Flawed' Mobile App Study
Uh oh, it looks like LinkedIn is pissed off at Google over the changes the search giant has made to its mobile search results.
Several companies were wary of Google's move, particularly those that make their living on their app and like to hawk it in as many ways as possible. One of those companies, LinkedIn, aired that wariness publicly. Omar Restom, a mobile product manager for the professional networking site, wrote a post on Tuesday evening calling Google's study "quite flawed."

Philadelphia Sues, Fines Uber $300K For Operating Illegally
It looks like Uber will be spending more investors' money on attorney fees and fines.
"Uber knew or should have known that the service they offer and provide by connecting passengers with drivers using the smartphone application is subject to regulation by the Authority," the suit states. "Since the launch [of the service] at least one million unauthorized trips occurred using the smartphone application."

California DOJ Unveils Website With Law Enforcement Data
The California Department of Justice launched a new website that contains data about police officers interaction with the public. Data sets include deaths in custody, arrest-related deaths and officers killed or assaulted in the line of duty.
The initial "OpenJustice" dashboard includes three datasets: law enforcement officers killed or assaulted in the line of duty; deaths in custody, including arrest-related deaths; and arrests and bookings. State officials say the dashboard will likely be expanded to include additional data sets.

Pirate Sites Must Pay Legal Costs of Own Blockade

Holy moly, forty five thousand dollars for four video reviews that barely broke a million and a half views between them?
A pair of YouTubers were paid $45,000 between them to publish two video reviews each, both of which beamed positive messages about Xbox One without stating that they were paid endorsements. "In a separate phase of the marketing program, Machinima promised to pay a larger group of influencers $1 for every 1,000 video views, up to a total of $25,000," it said. "Machinima did not require any of the influencers to disclose they were being paid for their endorsement."
