Ben Affeck has reportedly signed on for a new Batman solo trilogy
All signs are pointing to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice being a kick ass entry in the DCCU, but it looks like the film's crew and Warner Bros. executives have seen a screening of the movie, where the working cut of the movie had a standing ovation from those that saw it.

It also makes sense, as over the weekend Affleck's upcoming movies 'The Accountant' and 'Live by Night' were delayed, giving him room to work and be involved (obviously quite heavily) in the new Batman movies. The first solo Batman movie is rumored for sometime in 2018, but we should hear more about this closer to the release of Batman v Superman.

Phil Spencer, the chief of Xbox, has pumped some serious hours into Destiny. Another Xbox executive, Mike Ybarra, posted an image of Spencer's Xbox Live profile, showing that Spencer had played 346 hours of Destiny.

These 346 hours in Destiny were up to August 8, with Spencer using a level 34 Titan and level 13 Hunter. With Destiny launching not even a year ago, he's averaging an hour a day in Destiny, which is a considerable amount of time for someone as important and busy as the head of Xbox.

NVIDIA's new 4K 60FPS trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
The release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is nearly here, so NVIDIA is teasing an impressive new trailer that runs at 4K at 60FPS. Quite insane, when you consider most trailers are released in 1080p, and only sometimes at 60FPS.

Intel's Xeon processors will soon be rolled out into laptops
Today's laptops are pretty damn powerful, where personally I use the ASUS ROG G751 gaming laptop as my personal workstation (heck, I'm typing on it right now) with a 34-inch 3440x1440 UlraWide display and a 2560x1440 144Hz G-Sync display plugged into it. But the CPUs inside are about to get a heck of a lot faster.

The chipmaker isn't talking about all of the capabilities of its E3-1500M, but we do know that laptops using the Xeon processors will arrive in the fall.

Ultra-low graphics mod transforms Skyrim into a Pixar wonderland
In an effort to dramatically improve performance, Skyrim modder UniqueUses created an ultra-low graphics overhaul that transformed the once-detailed continent into a majestic winter wonderland straight out of a Pixar movie.

"I'm basically making my own potato texture mod, with an enb and weather that goes with it to help hide that ugly lod," the modder said in the post, using the term "potato textures" to describe low-def textures. "I like the potato texture style, but I think a lot of fixing up needs to be done for it to be playable. So I'm going to attempt to make things like signs and faces readable but still fit the potato style."
It's been four years and counting and modders are still busily plugging out amazing add-ons for Skyrim, and that won't change any time soon...especially since Bethesda won't be announcing a new Elder Scrolls game for a "very long time".

World's first 6-inch 4K AMOLED panel targets mobile VR market
EverDisplay Optronics (EDO) has crafted the world's first 6-inch 4K UHD Super AMOLED smartphone panel specifically aimed at optimizing the growing mobile VR sector.

Thanks to the low latency (a huge must for keeping the illusion of virtual reality) and optimized visuals like real darkness with superb contrast ratio and minimal hazardous high-energy blue ray, the panel is a perfect fit for VR. "Visually a person immerses himself into a faux real surrounding by means of VR devices," says EverDisplay Optronic's CEO Dr. David Chu. "To do so, it requires exponentially higher PPI in display, far beyond what current market offers. Using today's UHD (4K) display turn-on as a launch pad, EDO is determined to enter the VR market."
EDO isn't the only company who realizes the potential, however; the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will feature a similiar 6-inch 4K Super AMOLED screen, and it's even rumored that the final Oculus Rift will use the Note 5's UHD panel when it releases in Q1 2016.

Elder Scrolls VI won't happen for a 'very long time', says Bethesda
Rumors have been flying left and right about the next singleplayer Elder Scrolls game--could it be Elder Scrolls VI: Argonia, or even a Skyrim sequel?--but Bethesda's own Pete Hines has squashed these rumors, affirming that the studio won't be divulging any new details until long after Fallout 4 is finished up.

Speaking of Fallout 4, the team still has a lot of work on their plate with optimizing mods for consoles, tweaking bugs and fixing up the massive crafting system. Considering how huge Fallout 4 is--there are reports that it could take up to 400 hours to beat--this will be a lofty goal with post-release updates to keep the studio busy for some time.
Bethesda is also noted for taking their time developing games, and that the entire team is focused on a single project at a time to ensure quality over quantity. So when Hines says that the Bethesda is 100% committed to Fallout 4 it's not exactly a surprise.
"It's rare to have franchises like the ones we have and to have people joking about "when is Skyrim 2 coming out?" Pete Hines said in an interview with Telegraph. "The reason they say that is because generally speaking that's what you'd be getting with another publisher in charge. They'd be spitting out a Skyrim 2 the year after or two years later. That's just not how we view it. We're not the sort of publisher that focusses on 'what's our 25 titles for 2015'.
Despite this news, the rumor mill will likely continue to churn out more reports pointing to vague quotes or "evidence" peppered in past games in order to "confirm" suspicions. Since TES games are massive in scope and take years and years of development there's a possibility that Bethesda has started outlining the next game...but it's likely so far down the road that the info would just be vague concept art and the like.
Right now you'll have to be sure to take these rumors with a grain of salt and get your TES fix with The Elder Scrolls Online, because it looks like Bethesda won't be re-visiting Tamriel in earnest any time soon.

Latest gameplay video on Star Citizen teases Quantum Travel mode
The latest gameplay video on Star Citizen shows off a bunch of stuff, including Quantum Travel mode, the ZeroG mode that has you floating around your ship, and some of the multiplayer goodness, too.
After watching the video, some of the shadows don't look too good, but the overall lighting when you get out of your quarters is super-impressive. The walking around effect is going to take some getting used to, and RSI has some serious optimization to go on the performance, but we are talking about a game that is still in development.

Islamic State's social media propaganda machine seems unstoppable
I find the Islamic State's actions in Iraq and Syria to be absolutely sickening and inhumane. However, the extremist group's ability to use social media is giving western governments and intelligence agencies absolute fits has been nothing less than stunning.

It seems like trying to fight the Islamic State's social media efforts has evolved into a global effort, with around 100,000 daily tweets from up to 50,000 Twitter accounts with suspected Islamic State ties. If you're morbidly curious about it, you can use the Twitter Search feature to find a frightening amount of pro-Islamic State tweets and posts online.
At face value, it seems like it'd be easier to detect and remove accounts posting vile content, but once something is published on the Internet, it's instantly shared with followers. In the past, the Islamic State used Twitter hashtags to help drive interest in its tweets, and with such a large network of supporters, they've been successful in making certain keywords and phrases trend on the social networking site.

That's in stark contrast to the Islamic State, which relies on a public approach to communicating and sharing information. Al Qaeda tries to foster "lone wolf" attacks in the Western world, but wasn't as enthusiastic about recruiting Westerners to fight for Jihad in its areas of operations. It's not a surprise the group's social media prowess caught intelligence agencies off guard, as the group has invaded the social networking world by storm.
"What worries me most is that ISIL's investment in social media - which has been blossoming in the last six to eight weeks in particular - will cause a significant increase in the number of incidents that we will see," said James Comey, FBI Director, while speaking at a recent national security conference. "That's what I worry about all day long."

Europol has announced a stepped up initiative that will focus on trying to remove social media accounts within hours of them being posted. Additional details about how the European Union law enforcement agency will target these accounts, they are keeping their strategies fairly quiet. Europol did not respond to TweakTown's requests for comment.
The Dark Web
Along with the sheer number of public posts available online, the Islamist terror group also uses the Dark Web effectively to communicate with one another."The Dark Web is a perfect alternative as it is inaccessible to most but navigable for the initiated few - and it is completely anonymous," noted Beatrice Berton, junior analyst at the European Union Institute for Security Studies. Not surprisingly, they largely seem to be using Tor to access the Dark Web, with meeting places and communications must more difficult to track.

The Anonymous hacker collective, which has been a thorn in the side of governments worldwide, has stepped up its own actions against the Islamic State. Even with assistance from Anonymous, which is accessing IS accounts, reporting accounts, and causing a nuisance for the Islamic State - it still hasn't been enough.
In a rather ironic twist, the Islamic State has been scammed out of a few thousand dollars by suspected Chechen women. They engaged with recruiters online, saying they would need money to successfully leave Chechnya for Syria, and were wired at least $3,300. Once the money cleared, they closed the accounts and disappeared - and now face fraud charges.
Final Thoughts
There are no easy answers as to how Western governments can fight the Islamic State and its social media prowess. Simply trying to counter the group's propaganda hasn't worked in the past - and won't work again in the future. Instead, there should be a focus on working to remove associated accounts, and purge the Tweets, posts, images, videos, and links shared to these accounts.I think it starts with intelligence agencies knowing where to look online, and regular people reporting suspicious accounts, and taking it from there. It's important to remove pro-IS social media accounts, but more importantly, finding ways to see who the group is speaking with online. It's one thing to try to stop people heading overseas to join the group, though it is more important to find out which recruitment tactics worked to woo these "troubled" souls.
