What Do Space-Grown Veggies Taste Like?
Astronauts sick of ready-made meals are probably pretty happy about the success of the Veggie plant growth system aboard the ISS, which has been proven to produce edible lettuce. Initial crops sent back to earth for study were deemed safe to eat, and Expedition 44 crew members will be sampling some of the red romaine on Monday.
NASA plans to grow food on future spacecraft and on other planets as a food supplement for astronauts. Fresh food, such as vegetables, provide essential vitamins and nutrients that will help enable sustainable deep space pioneering.

There's No Such Thing As Post-PC
I guess that smartphones, tablets, and laptops are technically PCs, but as someone who associates PCs with desktops, I'd feel kind of gross if I had to group them together.
As iOS 9 turns the iPad more into more of a PC, and Microsoft turns phones into PCs, the questions over which devices will be important in the future won't be around their traditional forms, but their function. PCs will continue to evolve, as will the versatility of devices that are shaping the mobility of computing.

Don't Fly Your Airbus Into A Hailstorm
To clarify, the pilot wasn't insane; he actually got caught in a rapidly developing storm as he attempted to avoid another. I guess this guy is a hero for managing to land a plane with a ruined windshield.
This was the second Delta aircraft to be seriously damaged in flight by hail in the past few months. In May, a Delta flight from Detroit to Seoul was denied permission from Chinese air traffic controllers to change course around a thunderstorm, and incurred major damage from large hail. That plane, a Boeing 747, also had its nosecone dented. The 747 was subsequently written off and sold for spare parts.

How Windows 10 Convinced Me That Desktop Is Dead
You know, I would actually take this guy more seriously if his tile layout wasn't completely hideous. Anyway, how could the Start menu replace the desktop when you can't even pin files to it?
Very quickly I noticed that Windows 10's full screen Start Menu had become my default home screen. The Desktop still existed somewhere under it but I had no need for it except for the odd occasion when I needed to access a file in one of the three folders I had created there or to drag an image to it from a site in a web browser that prevented the saving of its images directly.

Bill Murray To Appear In New Ghostbusters Film
I think this is kind of weird, since Bill Murray has practically gone on record that he was done with the franchise. Isn't he the reason why a real Ghostbusters 3 never happened? He also really hated the sequel, but now he'll be appearing in the all-female Ghostbusters, which looks like it'll be even worse. (For the record, I liked Ghostbusters II.)
Murray has long been resistant to star in a third Ghostbusters. He told David Letterman earlier this year that his hesitancy stems from Ghostbusters II not having been as well-received as the first one. Feig's film, which is currently shooting, stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth. It hits theaters on July 22, 2016.

The Science Of Bad Music Playlists
What does everyone think of music recommendations? Are you discovering new artists and tracks that you really like, or are you like this guy, who quickly gets bored of everything and thinks that they don't work because suggestions are similar and predictable?
Pop music is so engineered to hit your dopamine jets that it won't sustain the rush. When the music is so predictably similar, "the dopamine response will quickly diminish. It's why people love improvisational music like jazz---it's different every time."

Hackers Can Kill You Online
No, I'm not implying that hackers can come through your screen and bludgeon you to death, but they could have you officially declared dead by exploiting a fatal flaw in the system. Apparently, all you have to do is research and borrow a few identities.
In Rock's case, he made a website for a bogus funeral home and used that to back his application for an account as director. He got an automated call days later saying he was approved. With both online accounts in place, deaths can be registered in the real world.

What's up with rich people doing crazy stuff? The SpaceX and Tesla founder did a bit of wing walking this weekend. Falling to your death is a real possibility during this daredevil stunt popularized by flying circuses, but the illustrious inventor seems to have made it out okay.

Listen To The Halo 5: Guardians Soundtrack
I don't think anyone can match what Marty O'Donnell did for the pre-343 Halo games, but what I'm hearing is an excellent effort that is consistent with the Halo 4 score. Also leaked are images for Warzone, Halo 5's 24-player multiplayer mode featuring AI-controlled opponents and huge maps.
According to Halo boss Frank O'Connor, the bulk of Halo 5's soundtrack was composed by veteran composer Kazuma Jinnouchi, who previously worked on Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Intel's Xeon Processors Are Coming To Laptops
Originally targeted toward workstation and server markets, Intel's high performance Xeon brand is coming to laptops. The E3-1500M is based on Skylake architecture and will include features ranging from error-correcting memory to Thunderbolt 3.
The semiconductor firm isn't talking about everything the E3-1500M can do just yet, and you won't the chips in shipping laptops until the fall. However, their existence shows that even the high-end computing world is affected by the shift from desktops to laptops.
