Government Signals Approval Of AT&T-DirecTV Merger
It looks as though the AT&T-DirecTV merger has been given the thumbs up by the Federal Communications Commission earlier today.

On Tuesday Chairman Tom Wheeler shared his approval recommendation with the FCC's other four commissioners. The other government agency reviewing the proposed deal, the Justice Department, also gave its blessing on Tuesday by ending what it called an "extensive investigation" into the proposal. FCC approval would come with some conditions, as is common in proposed deals of this size.

eBay Sends All Your Information To Any Bidder Who Asks
At first I thought this was an accident or isolated incident but, as it turns out, this is actually eBay policy.

Typically the seller shouldn't have anything to worry about, as we only allow members of eBay to request contact information. We allow any transaction partner (including a bidder) to request the buyer/seller's contact information. This includes a phone number, and the address. This is for all members of the site, and something we've found be very helpful overall. There's not a way to opt out of this as we expect it of everyone on the site, namely because we're only a venue and don't buy or sell the item directly.

Facebook Must Hand Over NY Users' Info To Prosecutors
The courts have ruled that Facebook must turn over personal information of 381 users, including photos, private messages and other account information.

Facebook Inc cannot challenge search warrants New York prosecutors used to get information from its site on hundreds of users suspected of Social Security fraud, a state appeals court said on Tuesday, in a decision likely making it harder for New Yorkers to keep their digital lives private.

Microsoft Corp. today announced that revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2015 were $22.2 billion. Gross margin, operating loss, and loss per share for the quarter were $14.7 billion, $(2.1) billion, and $(0.40) per share, respectively. Raidmax Vampire RX-1000GH 1000W PSU
NikKTech has the Raidmax Vampire RX-1000GH 1000W power supply in house for a little review action today.

We have seen several "affordable" high-end models in the past by many manufacturers but in the end there's always room for more such products aimed at people on a tight budget. Raidmax is mostly known for their towers but they've also ventured into the PSU market and today we're going to test their latest Vampire RX-1000GH 1000W PSU to see whether or not this was the right move by them.

Google, Facebook Back Samsung In Patent Battle With Apple
Wow! The list of companies backing Samsung in its patent case with Apple is impressive.

A coalition of companies led by Google, Facebook, eBay, and PC makers Dell and Hewlett-Packard filed a brief with the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit this month, supporting Samsung's plea to have damages related to its alleged infringement of Apple's patents either reduced or dropped entirely.

FAA Investigating Teen That Made The Gun-Firing Drone
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating this kid? Really? I had no idea the agency had so much free time on its hands. Hopefully they bring that 18 year old criminal to justice.

"The FAA will investigate the operation of an unmanned aircraft system in a Connecticut park to determine if any Federal Aviation Regulations were violated," it said in a statement. "The FAA will also work with its law enforcement partners to determine if there were any violations of criminal statutes."

Hackers Can Remotely Kill A Jeep On The Highway
If you own a Chrysler vehicle, you might want to read this article. Download the patch for your car while you are there.

As the two hackers remotely toyed with the air-conditioning, radio, and windshield wipers, I mentally congratulated myself on my courage under pressure. That's when they cut the transmission. Immediately my accelerator stopped working. As I frantically pressed the pedal and watched the RPMs climb, the Jeep lost half its speed, then slowed to a crawl.

Sexism In Video Gaming Is Just Another Form Of Bullying
You have to wonder if the people that conduct studies like this ever played online games? Personally, I don't think so. If the researchers were actual gamers, they would know that being anonymous on the internet leads people being complete jackasses to total strangers. I'd say that 99.9% of the comments during any match is straight trash talk. It doesn't hurt my feelings, I don't feel bullied, I mute the person and move on. It really is that simple.

But in a study that we just published, we show that the cause could be something much simpler: the negative and sexist comments expressed by some men are really just a form of bullying, motivated by the fact that they are perceived as being lower in the pecking order.
