New, Less Cumbersome Data Glasses Developed
Some believe people will be regularly using data-glasses in the future, to seamlessly provide information to us about our environment. While the technology exists already, it is not catching on just yet. One reason for this may be the size of the devices, but researchers at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft have done something about that by shrinking the technology.
The data glasses in question are see-through, so the information they display would appear directly on top of what a user is looking at. Most current systems that do this consist of a micro-display that generates the image and optics to project it in the correct place. Both parts typically rest on the temple of the glasses. While the new micro-display is similar in size to others, the new optics system is just five millimeters long, making it just one fifth the length of others. This was achieved by using an array of smaller optics placed next to each other, instead of a single, long optical system.
The new design is also capable of correcting the display for vision issues, such as farsightedness. This will allow users with some vision problems to see the information sharply.

NVIDIA Driver Hotfix Addresses G-Sync Windowed Mode
NVIDIA has just released the GeForce 353.12 Hotfix drivers to "address the G-Sync Windowed mode issue that some users were experiencing." The drivers were only released for 64-bit systems and only address the G-Sync issues, so only users that use that feature need to upgrade. G-Sync Windowed mode was just added as part of the GeForce Game Ready 353.06 Driver last week, and this fix represents a rather quick turnaround. Windowed mode is designed to provide "a tear-free, stutter-free experience whatever your screen mode."

AMD R9 Fiji XT Lags Behind GeForce GTX 980 Ti, Has Room For Improvement
Early reports from Computex appear to indicate that the upcoming AMD Fiji XT based GPU, rumored to be known as Fury X, trails the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti in gaming performance. It is worth noting that the card on display at Computex is still in a prototype state and "AMD is still playing around with optimizing clocks and the drivers are nowhere near perfect." AMD could find itself in a rough patch if the Fiji XT doesn't perform on par with the recently released GTX 980 Ti. It is now known that the liquid cooling apparatus for the card is being manufactured by CoolIT, and the card is expected to be on a short PCB due to the power supply circuitry layout. Updates to the original article confirm that the card will launch at E3 and that AMD isn't worried about internal performance numbers as the card is still being tweaked.

Prices Leaked for AMD R9/R7 300 Cards; No Mention of Fiji XT
AMD's upcoming yet still unannounced R9 300 series has had more leaks than a sieve, and today we have yet another new leak. This time it concerns the pricing structure for everything from the R9 390X down to the R7 360, plus the names of the different GPU chips. The R9 390X 8GB model comes in at $499 and uses the Grenada chip, a reworked Hawaii chip (maybe Hawaii XT) found in the R9 290 line. An R9 390 8GB is $419 and again uses Grenada, but this time maybe the Hawaii Pro. Moving down to the R9 380 4GB will set you back $279, with the R9 380 2GB at $249. A Tonga chip is mentioned for both of those, which was previously seen in the R9 285.
The R7 370 4GB is priced at $209 and the R7 370 2GB at $179, which both use the Curaçao chip that was originally the Pitcairn from the HD 7870. The last card is the R7 360 2GB at $139 and using the Bonaire chip, previously seen in the HD 7790. All the chips are more than likely reworked and heavily tweaked models of the older ones, but it does lend credence to the RX 300 series being rebrands. There is no mention of the Fiji XT/Fiji VR at all in this leak, the rumored Radeon Fury parts, so we'll just have to see what those bring. The RX 300 series is expected to arrive on June 16, when E3 kicks off.
As is the case with rumors, do take everything here with a grain of salt.

Windows 10 Will Receive Various Patches at Launch
Microsoft pushed quite a bit of patches to Windows 8 the day of its release, in order to polish the operating system up even further and fix various bugs that affected users. From the looks of it, Microsoft will do the same when Windows 10 launches at the end of next month, with the company expected to release several patches for the latest Windows operating system. The latest build of Windows 10 reportedly suffers from an unresponsive Start Menu at times as well as driver crashes, and with the release to manufacturing process coming up later this month for Microsoft, the company is running out of time to include performance improvements and bug fixes before launch. Any updates not included in the RTM version of Windows 10 are expected to arrive on the July 29, which is when Windows 10 is scheduled to be publically available.

Kingston Releases USB Type-A and C Flash Drive
Kingston Releases USB Type-A and C Flash Drive
For a long time, people have wanted a reversible form of USB, so they do not need to worry about finding the top of the device. Now we have that thanks to the reversible USB Type-C connector, and today Kingston Digital is releasing the DataTraveler micro Duo 3C flash drive, which sports both a Type-C and Type-A connector. The Type-A connector, which is the connector found on most flash drives today, supports USB 2.0, 3.0, and the new 3.1 standards, so you can use the drive with current computers, as well as upcoming devices featuring Type-C ports.
Thanks to USB 3.1, the drive is capable of read speeds up to 100 MB/s and write speeds up to 15 MB/s. The drive is available in 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB capacities and is backed by Kingston's five-year warranty.

Fallout 4 is Real and Coming to PC, PS4, and XBO; First Trailer Included
Fallout 4 is Real and Coming to PC, PS4, and XBO; First Trailer Included
Yesterday a teaser and a countdown appeared on the Fallout website, letting us all know that something was coming. Well that something has turned out to be Fallout 4, the much awaited next entry in the post-apocalyptic RPG series. Fallout 4 takes us to The Commonwealth, and while we don't have a gameplay trailer for you, we do have a in-game trailer and a screenshot. The picture shows us a Power Armor (T45-d?) hanging up in a garage, with a dog (Dogmeat?) looking up at it, a board of weapons behind, a Nuka Cola machine in front, and even a small Valutboy bobblehead. As for the trailer, well, we have a house as it is in post-apocalyptia, and then it reverts to how it use to be, with it switching back and forth between the two time periods. And then the bomb drops.
The Commonwealth is the Fallout universe's representation of the New England area, and specifically the area around Massachusetts. It contains The Institute and its wealth of androids, which you may remember from Fallout 3. It also has the Railroad, an opposition faction to the Institute that seeks to help androids escape and avoid recapture by the Synth Retention Bureau. Fallout 4's protagonist hails from a Vault 111, and evidently he talks. This would definitely be a first for Bethesda's Fallout games and RPGs in general, so we'll just have to see how that all plays out in the end. Fallout 4 will have gameplay premiere during Bethesda's E3 conference in a little over a week, June 14, but I can tell you it's coming to the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Time to get hyped!
