Poll: Americans favor Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert over conservatives for punditry
John Stewart and Stephen Colbert during the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or/Fear in WashingtonBy Lisa Lambert WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Jon Stewart has spent 16 years skewering U.S. politicians and media as the liberal host of television's "The Daily Show" - and many Americans think he gets it right on the issues with his satirical look at the news. In a Reuters/Ipsos online poll, the Comedy Central comic topped a list of 10 pundits, with more than half of respondents saying they agreed with him on at least some issues. Stewart, who will host his last Daily Show episode on Aug. 6, also ranked highest on two other traits - fearlessness and most admired. Daily Show alumnus Stephen Colbert, who spoofed conservative talk-show hosts for nearly a decade on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report," tied Stewart as most admired and placed second to him on issues and fearlessness.

An exit poll predicting that the Conservative Party led by Prime Minister David Cameron will be the largest party with 316 seats is projected onto BBC Broadcasting House, Portland Place in London on May 7, 2015Prime Minister David Cameron's Conservatives looked on course Friday for a surprise victory in Britain's general election which could redefine the country's future in Europe and herald more austerity cuts. Projections after the vote upended pre-election forecasts of a knife-edge contest with Labour and pointed to a landslide for Scottish nationalists that could reopen the question of independence for Scotland. "This is clearly a very strong night for the Conservative party," Cameron said after being re-elected to his Witney seat in southern England. Although he said it was "too early" to say what the final result would be, Cameron stressed that Britain now "must hold" a referendum on membership of the European Union that he has promised by 2017.
