Following in the footsteps of the US, Malaysia has now officially recognized eSports as a professional sport - listing it under the Sports Commission of Malaysia.

It hasn't always been smooth sailing, with Arrow Gaming being accused and found guilty of match fixing - but this controversy has further pushed the government towards this ruling, meaning that they can now directly control any issues that may occur in the future.
There will be an official media unveiling and announcement conducted on Wednesday January 28, at Dewan Perdana Felda.
Whether you think of eSports as legitimate or not, two major countries now officially do.

Kansas receives AT&T 1 Gpbs internet - extra $29 for non-tracking plan
With Google launching Fiber in Kansas City, other internet providers are looking to step up their game in order to continue profit and growth. AT&T have been the first to do so in this region, offering up their U-Verse with GigaPower network - set for launch in Kansas and "parts of Leawood, Lenexa, Olathe, Overland Park, Kan. and in surrounding communities located throughout the metro area."
Their Kansas president Mike Scott issued a release, stating "we're proud to launch in these cities as the first locations where we will offer ultra-high speeds to local consumers and employers in the Kansas City area. The AT&T GigaPower network will help encourage economic development in the area by facilitating a new wave of innovation through enhanced opportunities for education, health, research and small business growth."
So what's the catch? As part of their $70 internet-only plan, you are subject to user tracking. If you want to get rid of this, you're either going to have to pay them $29 extra per month, or move to one of the more expensive plans.
AT&T's fine print reads: "Receive our U-verse with AT&T GigaPower Premier Offer by choosing AT&T Internet Preferences. When you select AT&T Internet Preferences, we can offer you our best pricing on GigaPower because you let us use your individual Web browsing information, like the search terms you enter and the web pages you visit, to tailor ads and offers to your interests."
Google Fiber doesn't track users information directly, they're already doing that through things like Gmail and YouTube - so in the end I guess both companies are pretty similar, they're just tracking through different methods - what are your thoughts?

37 years in solitary confinement for Facebook posts is a real thing
The prisons of South Carolina don't mess around. Prisoner Tyreem Henry has been handed 37 years in solitary confinement for writing 38 posts on Facebook whilst incarcerated.

Gizmodo explained that there has been over 400 cases in the last few years alone where inmates have subject to disciplinary action over social media use - being classed as a Level 1 violation, which is the same level as homicide, hostage-taking and rioting.
Obviously Henry's sentence is a little extreme and much more harsh than others, whether it's justified is up to you. The Electronic Frontier Foundation has described why how the long sentences have come around: "The sentences are so long because SCDC issues a separate Level 1 violation for each day that an inmate accesses a social network. An inmate who posts five status updates over five days, would receive five separate Level 1 violations, while an inmate who posted 100 updates in one day would receive only one." They further explain that "in other words, if a South Carolina inmate caused a riot, took three hostages, murdered them, stole their clothes, and then escaped, he could still wind up with fewer Level 1 offenses than an inmate who updated Facebook every day for two weeks."

Designing your PC mod project from scratch - how's it done?
We've posted plenty of scratch-built PC projects over the past few weeks here at TweakTown, including the recently shared ZOTAC love heart chassis.

These renders show you the complete custom-case design, highlighting the planned water cooling loop setup - questioning fans about the loop setup and if it's optimal. As you can see by the pictures, this build is once again powered by Bitspower components, as proudly displayed on the top of the case in capital letters - "100% BITSPOWER".
If you're looking to make a custom build of your own - it may be worth your time opening up 3ds Max (or a similar program) and modelling your design first.

Heroes of the Storm is just starting to take flight
Have you had a chance to get your own Blizzard's Heroes of the Storm (Heroes) beta yet? Set out to be a fast-paced and action packed MOBA style game, Blizzard have made it publicly known that they're interested in turning this title into another large eSport offering.

This game also does away with singular hero leveling. A little confusing at first, all heroes on the same team will level at the same rate no matter how many kills or deaths one player may have. This helps your team progress together and provide some more linear game-play. There's no earth-shattering ultimate abilities like in Dota2, however the fast-paced nature and quick games make for an enjoyable experience.
We've just spotted one of the first Heroes competitive events on our radar - The Exile5 Australia and New Zealand Heroes tournament, running from Feb 16-28. This event will be in a single-elimination bo5 format and is set up as a trial tournament and learning experience for all competitors and admins.

Privacy International wants to help you find out if GCHQ spied on you
Do you want to know if the GCHQ illegally spied on you? Privacy International wants to help you find out, and has the chance to do so, after dragging the UK intelligence agency into court.

"The public have a right to know if they were illegally spied on, and GCHQ must come clean on whose records they hold that they should never have had in the first place," said Eric King, deputy director for Privacy International. "There are few chances that people have to directly challenge the seemingly unrestrained surveillance state, but individuals now have a historic opportunity finally hold GCHQ accountable for their unlawful actions."

Sony looks to expand business ideas, joining self-driving car market
Japanese electronics company Sony has invested more than $800,000 in ZMP, a Japanese startup company developing robotic cars, according to a report published by the Financial Times. ZMP will use the cash funds - and Sony's knowledge of image sensors - to help create autonomous vehicle solutions.

It will still take years of research, but self-driving vehicles are expected to become more commonplace by 2020 - and Sony wants to position itself as an industry leader when that time comes. Sony has found success with its PlayStation gaming unit, but has struggled declining revenue companywide, as other units lose steam to Korean and Chinese competitors.
Automakers are receiving a strong boost from tech companies, with Sony joining the likes of Google, Apple, and others interested in autonomous vehicle research.

Sony PlayStation 4 retakes console sales lead from Microsoft Xbox One
After facing increased pressure from the Microsoft Xbox One to end 2014, it looks like the Sony PlayStation 4 has climbed back atop the gaming console world. It wouldn't be surprising to hear Microsoft lost its sales lead after holiday promotional pricing ended in January.

The software industry earned $625.7 million revenue in January, a slight five percent drop from $662.1 million year-over-year - with Dying Light, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and Grand Theft Auto V leading the way.

Researchers making breakthrough in development of bionic eyes
Researchers are looking forward to the future of medical technology that could have major life-changing impact, with great breakthroughs in bionic vision. During the American Association for the Advancement of Science conference last week, medical researchers discussed everything from telescopic contact lenses to prototype bionic prosthetics.

"Retinal implants have moved from sci-fi into reality over the last few years," said Daniel Palanker, professor of ophthalmology at Stanford University, in a statement to the San Jose Mercury News. "Now we are in the race of improving resolution, improving image processing, dynamic range (of light intensity) and levels of gray - and will keep improving."
There is still a lot of work that must be done to produce the next level of bionic vision products, but researchers are increasingly excited about the future.

DARPA gives an updates for its 'supervision' telescopic contact lens
DARPA is constantly working on various things that we'll see in the next couple of decades, but one of them is something that started out as "supervision" contact lens for soldiers. But as things progressed, it was looking like it was better suited to age-related macular degeneration.

When asked about the added thickness, researcher Eric Tremblay said that out of the five patients that have used the lens, said it was light enough and more than comfortable to wear around for daily use. The contact lens itself works as a pair of liquid crystal glasses that the user wears, where winking your right eye turns on the magnification, while winking the left eye turns it off. Blinking, does nothing. The big issue now is getting oxygen through the lens, and to the users' eye. Without oxygen to the eye, the contact can only be worn for around half an hour. The team is already working on fixing this, with current experiments leading them to use tiny channels cut into the contact that feed oxygen as well as add reservoirs of oxygen-rich fluids.

Sentey Shield GS-6090 Mid-Tower Chassis Review
Introduction, Specifications, and Pricing

From what we have seen, Sentey is not afraid to go outside of the box when it comes to styling, lighting, and overall aesthetics. Sentey has done everything from curving the chassis for an aerodynamic look to going completely boxed and aggressive with their designs. Today we will have an opportunity to see if Sentey is keeping up with, or even setting the curve in chassis trends. By the time we are done, we will have a defined image of what Sentey is doing in late 2014 and into 2015.
The chassis we are reviewing today is the Sentey Shield GS-6090, which is a mid-tower chassis with a couple of tricks up its sleeve. There is also a cousin to this chassis that offers a completely different aesthetic, but is built on the same main chassis components that can be found in the Seeker GS-6080; however, we will not be discussing that chassis today. Back to the chassis at hand, we may as well get right to it, and see what this aggressively styled mid-tower offers users, and just how well it stacks up to the mainstream competition.

Outside of the chassis, you will find a few surfaces and textures, but all of them are black. First is the mesh present down the front and across parts of the top. The chart also shows mesh on the side, but we have a tinted amber window in our chassis, and not a mesh panel. It appears they have the top and side swapped. Along with textured plastic and the mesh inserts, there is also a fair amount of shiny plastic used to highlight bits and accent the overall design. Along with the 15mm tall plastic feet under the chassis, there is also a LED LCD display on the front as well, which is used to display temperature.
Inside, there is room for a trio of 3.5" drives, and a pair of 2.5" drives, all built into a single removable lower HDD cage. On top of that, there are three external 5.25" bays, one of which offers a stealth bay cover. There is also a lower slot for an external 3.5" device. In the bottom of the ODD cage, there is an adapter that comes out to go to 3.5", but there are also four tabs in that floor section to allow a 2.5" drive to go in there. At the back of the chassis, there are seven break-away style expansion slots, but they do offer a single expansion slot cover to replace one you may have removed on accident.
The front I/O offers a single USB 3.0 port, three USB 2.0 ports, and 3.5mm jacks for HD Audio connectivity. There are two sections to this unit; there is one on the front for easy access, and another on the top right. The power and reset switches are located at the top. The power has an LED ring denoting chassis power, while the rest is ringed to denote HDD activity. There is also a two-position fan controller here that is made with two leads on it to connect the pair of fans that ship in this chassis. Both fans included with the chassis are clear 120mm fans, and both are backed with blue LED lighting when powered. As for the physical specifications, feel free to read through those above.
We have had this chassis for three months now, and while we do apologize for the delay in getting to this chassis, we did find something strange. You can easily stop off at Sentey.com and see that this chassis has an MSRP of $69.99, but what is strange is that we can't find this chassis for sale anywhere. We even went through the list of retailers supplied on the Sentey site, and every single location either shows no information on this specific chassis, or in the instance of Amazon, states there is no availability. So, even if you do happen to like what you are about to see in the rest of this review, you probably won't find one to purchase.
