Netflix Planning Legend of Zelda Series
Online streaming service Netflix has recently had a great deal of success with some of the original content it has created for streaming including House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. Netflix is now in "the early stages of developing" a live action series based on the Legend of Zelda games from Nintendo. The series is being described as "Game of Thrones for a family audience" and will see Netflix work closely with Nintendo to get everything right. Representatives from Netflix and Nintendo declined to comment on the rumor.

Version 9.4 of Google Maps Includes Local Guides
Google has persistently upgraded its Maps application in the past, with the addition of Uber integration, shareable directions, suggestions for nearby restaurants, and more. In an effort to improve Maps, as well as compete with Yelp, Google has added a new feature to version 9.4 of Maps, known as Local Guides. The feature, which is essentially a rebranding of the City Experts program, allows Google Maps users to view destination recommendations given by individuals who are labeled as Local Guides. These city experts can only be classified as Local Guides once they successfully achieve the milestone of having 50 high-quality reviews, making them more reputable over others who review eateries, public attractions, music venues, and more.
Version 9.4 of Google Maps is expected to rollout through the Play Store in a staggered fashion, something that is quite usual for application upgrades pushed by Google.

Mortgage Calculator Added to Google
Although many mortgage calculators exist on the Internet that can be easily accessed through financial blogs, institutions, and more, Google has decided to implement its own version. Users can access the mortgage calculator by simply searching "mortgage calculator" on the Google website. The calculator, which will appear below a range of paid advertisements, allows users to select their mortgage amount, the interest rate, and the mortgage period. While the calculator is quite simple, as it does not include escrow payments made for homeowners insurance and property tax, it does break information down by monthly payments as well as the maximum loan amount a user can support.

Bringing Concentrating Solar Cells to Products
Every day more energy comes to Earth from the Sun than humanity uses, so it is only natural that we are trying to harness it. The catch is that there are limits to how well we can capture this energy and the technologies that do better jobs tend to also be more expensive. Researchers at Penn State though have recently developed a high efficiency concentrating solar cell that could be small and cheap enough to make it to roofs.
Traditional photovoltaics are subject to the Shockley-Queisser or SQ Limit, which states that single-junction solar cells cannot surpass approximately 34% efficiency. With additional junctions and concentrated light however, that limit increases, and the Penn researchers have designed a new multi-junction concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) system that could be cheap and efficient enough to make it onto our roofs. The photovoltaic element in the system is a miniaturized gallium arsenide solar cell less than a square millimeter in size that can be made in large batches. These cells are then placed on a moveable sheet between a lens and concave mirror, both of which are 3D printed. That sheet moves to keep the cell in the shared focal point of the lens and mirror, which moves over the course of the day as the Sun moves.
So far the researchers were able to achieve about 100 times solar concentration with their system, but 200 times concentration is possible with better printed lenses. The hope is to develop this technology into CPV panels that would take up as much room as traditional solar panels, but generate more power. One catch though is that they require a lot of direct Sunlight, so they are not suitable for all places.
