Synology today introduced DiskStation DS1515+ and DS1815+, 5-bay and 8-bay NAS servers designed for small and medium-sized businesses to facilitate intensive data exchange, collaboration, and backup among large groups of employees.

(PR) Intel Custom Foundry Demos Industry-Leading 32 Gbps SerDes on 14 nm Process
Intel Corporation today unveiled silicon characterization results for its 1 to 32 Gbps high-speed SerDes on the 14nm process. This 32 Gbps SerDes is the second SerDes offering and adds to the previously announced 1 to 16 Gbps GP 14nm SerDes. It will be available by end of this year.



Intel's 14nm SerDes family is the second generation of SerDes offering and is built on the success of Intel's 12 and 28 Gbps SerDes, which is currently in production on Intel's 22nm Tri-gate process technology. Intel's 14nm SerDes extends the operating range while reducing power by 20 percent and area by more than 40 percent as compared to Intel's 22nm SerDes offering. This announcement marks the first time that a 32 Gbps, multiprotocol SerDes has been validated on any sub-20nm foundry process.

SeaSonic Announces Snow Silent 1050W Power Supply
SeaSonic launched a new line of high-end PSUs that come in the color of the season - white, and offer the low noise levels people have come to expect from the company. The first model is the Snow Silent 1050W. It's body is completely white - even the AC receptacle and switch - with a frosted silver applique around the 120 mm fan's intake grille.



This 80 Plus Platinum certified unit offers a single +12V rail design, and most modern electrical and thermal protection mechanisms. It features fully modular cabling, which includes a 24-pin ATX, two 8-pin EPS (from which one breaks up to two 4-pin ATX), eight 6+2 pin PCIe, fourteen SATA, five Molex, and one Berg connectors. Other features include hybrid fan control, which completely powers down the fan below a load threshold. SeaSonic didn't announce pricing or availability.

AMD Outs Catalyst 14.11.2 Beta
AMD rolled out its latest Catalyst software suite, version 14.11.2 Beta. These drivers add optimizations for two recently launched AAA games, namely FarCry 4, and Dragon Age: Inquisition. With FarCry 4, Catalyst 14.11.2 offers up to 50 percent increase in single-GPU performance, with anti-aliasing enabled, over Catalyst 14.11.1. With Dragon Age: Inquisition, the driver offers a 5 percent performance increase. This driver comes with a CrossFire profile for Dragon Age: Inquisition.
