''Biggest ever'' iPhone launch drives strong Q4 Apple financials
Apple's fiscal fourth quarter financial results are in, and as expected, the iDevice maker raked in a boatload of money. For the three months ending September 27, Apple made $8.5 billion in profit on revenue of $42.1 billion. Both figures represent double-digit increases over the same period last year.

You can now pre-order Asus' $199 Win8.1 netbook
Asus' EeeBook X205 is a new take on the netbook concept, with low-horsepower Intel hardware, Windows 8.1, and a puny $199 price tag. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare needs 6GB of RAM and 55GB of storage
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is due out on November 4, and the minimum system requirements have appeared on Steam. In some respects, they're not too demanding; any reasonably recent CPU and discrete graphics card should do. However, the new CoD demands at least 6GB of system memory and 55GB of storage capacity.

Biostar mini PC combines Bay Trail quad with USB audio
On the surface, Biostar's new iDEQ-T1 looks like yet another Bay Tray-powered mini PC. It has a quad-core Celeron N2940 clocked up to 2.25GHz, two DDR3L memory slots primed for up to 16GB of RAM, a 2.5" SATA bay that can accept drives up to 9.5 mm thick, Gigabit Ethernet via a Realtek controller, and a Mini PCIe slot for wireless cards. Everything is wrapped in a compact 8.3" x 7.3" x 1.6" case that weighs 1.8 lbs and can be hung from a VESA-compatible mounting bracket.

GlobalFoundries to acquire IBM's microelectronics business
It's a big day for GlobalFoundries. Not only has the firm entered an agreement to acquire IBM's microelectronics business and associated patents, but it's also getting a $1.5-billion "cash consideration" from IBM to do so. I guess you can have your cake and eat it, too.

Forbes: Microsoft smartwatch to launch within 'next few weeks'
Yes, Microsoft apparently has a smartwatch in the works—and the device may become available sooner than you think. Quoting "sources close to the project," Forbes reports that Microsoft plans to release the wearable "within the next few weeks" and to have it in stores "soon after launch."
