Home Depot Ignored Its Own Cybersecurity Team Since 2008
Shouldn't this be criminal? You'd think when negligence leads to 56 million credit card users' data being stolen, the company should be held accountable. Right?

56 million credit cards were compromised in a recent hack on The Home Depot. Now, The New York Times is reporting that the company dismissed and largely ignored concerns put forth by security researchers as far back as 2008.

Xbox One Launch Delayed In China
It looks like the Xbox One wont be launching in China as planned this Monday. A press release from Microsoft says that the launch has been bumped back to the end of 2014.

The Xbox team has been counting down the days to an exciting launch in China and on Monday 22nd September we will host our fans at the Oriental Pearl Tower to celebrate our journey, as we work hand-in-hand with our partners to bring console gaming and entertainment experiences on the biggest screen in the home. The launch of Xbox One will be a historic moment for gamers and families when Microsoft and BesTV bring the first console of its kind to China.

Despite strong and steady progress, we are going to need a bit more time to deliver the best experiences possible for our fans in China. At Xbox, we pride ourselves on delivering first rate gaming and entertainment experiences and to allow us to deliver on that promise we need to reschedule the launch of Xbox One. Working with our partner, BesTV, we look forward to launching in China by the end of this year.

FAA Grounds University Of Michigan's Football Delivery Drone
*Referee whistle* The FAA threw a flag on the play for grandstanding. The drone has been ejected from the game.

"The FAA promotes voluntary compliance by educating UAS operators about how they can operate safely under current regulations and laws," the agency said today in an e-mailed statement. After explaining its rules on drones -- and pointing out that the agency had also approved a temporary flight restriction over the stadium during the game -- the school backed down, FAA said in the statement.

Bitcoin Ponzi Scheme Hit With $40.7M Penalty
Am I reading this wrong? You raise $290 million in bitcoin illegally but you only have to pay a $40M penalty? Gee, no wonder why these people keep committing this type of crime.

According to the complaint, Shaver managed to raise around 732,000 Bitcoin (which is worth around $290 million today, though the exchange rate changes wildly) between Feb. 2011 and Aug. 2012, by convincing people in Bitcoin forums that he was some sort of hotshot investor in the virtual currency who sold to individuals looking to buy Bitcoin "off the radar" quickly and/or large quantities.

Your Daily Dose Of #GamersGate From Both Sides
Continuing the trend of gaming sites trashing their readers, this editorial wants you to know "you're just plain wrong" if you don't agree with the author's opinion. The flip side of the coin tries to explain what is driving all this hate towards gamers in the first place.

Alexander is editor-at-large for Gamasutra. She also writes for VICE, Edge, Kotaku, Polygon, Boing Boing and regularly contributes to many other publications. In other words, she's a relatively big deal. Over the past five years or so, she has spearheaded a wave of journalists who have tried to refocus games journalism. Followers of the scandal now known as #GamerGate will note that Alexander has had her professional ethics called into question. This is liable to happen if you run a public relations consulting firm and sell your services to the same people you write about as a journalist. (Yes, you read that right.)

Violent Video Games Can Improve Teamwork, Reduce Bias
A new study finds that violent video games can improve teamwork, reduce bias and have positive effects on player's attitudes toward others. Take that Jack Thompson!

Canadian researchers, whose earlier work challenged assumptions about violent video games' links to aggression, have come out with a new study that suggests when people from different social groups cooperate in a video game — even a super violent one — their impressions of one another improve and prejudices diminish.

Fractal Design Core 3300 Computer Case
If you are in the market for a new chassis to put all you hardware in, APH Networks says the Fractal Design Core 3300 is a decent choice.

If the Fractal Design Define R4 and the Core 3300 were brothers, you will definitely see the family resemblance. This makes for a lot to like about the case. Fractal Design follows the same path of simple design, and it really works for me. Build quality, despite a front plastic panel, is still top notch. Opening up the case, and one will find even more to love.
