Thecus N7710-G NAS Server
Network attached storage devices/servers (NAS) keep gaining ground over mini PC systems build solely for non-gaming purposes and no matter how one sees it this was a long time coming since their advantages simply can't be ignored. NAS devices/servers are smaller in size, consume much less electrical power, work right out of the box with pretty much every application you'll ever need (and for free), allow the end user to install multiple drives in RAID effortlessly and are far easier to setup compared to normal PC systems. According to some people the largest drawback NAS servers have is their graphical user interface (GUI) or web interface as others call it but right now there are several high-end Intel based NAS servers in the market that support multiple OS installation (yes including Windows) via virtualization so there's always a solution for the more demanding users. In order however to do everything you'd ever want with a NAS server you need high/ultra-high end hardware and although a couple of years ago choices were quite limited today in the market one can find powerful such devices that even support 10GbE for extremely I/O intensive workloads. nikktech.com

Samsung 845DC PRO Review (400/800GB)
At the 2014 Samsung SSD Global Summit, Samsung showcased its latest consumer SSD, the 850 PRO. Just like the 840 PRO before it, we loved the 850 PROs performance and technological advances. In fact, it is probably the best SATA 3 (6Gbps) drive on the market. As an enterprise reviewer, I expected the normal 6-12 month wait before the 850 PRO would spawn an enterprise cousin, as we have seen with the Samsung SM843 and 845DC EVO. That 12 month wait was closer to 12 minutes as Samsung surprised all in attendance with their announcement of the 845DC PRO, alongside the 850 PRO. thessdreview.com

NZXT H440 Mid-Tower Case
Over the past couple of years NZXT has really set the bar when it has come to computer case design, not only on the outside, but on the inside as well. One of their newest cases the H440 also hopes to do the same. Its extremely sleek design is made possibly by completely removing optical drive bay cases from the case, which make way for an all-new storage system. Inside we see new things like a steel power supply cover that has a NZXT logo on it and even two solid state drive mountings that can be seen through the large side panel window. NZXT really thought out every aspect of this case. Will it impress? thinkcomputers.org

FinalWire Rolls Out AIDA64 v4.60
Enhanced Support for LCD and VFD Screens
BUDAPEST, Hungary - July 30, 2014 - Today FinalWire has announced the immediate availability of AIDA64 v4.60. As is known, the popular PC diagnostic utility can provide detailed information about both the hardware and software environment of individual PCs or a network of computers. All four editions of the portfolio have been updated to the new version, including the award-winning PC diagnostic and benchmarking tool, AIDA64 Extreme, as well as the company's flagship IT asset management solution for business customers, AIDA64 Business.
The new release comes with support for a wider range of external LCD and VFD displays, including alphanumeric, monochrome and color panels, on which AIDA64 can directly display temperatures, voltages and fan speeds as well as other system information. The July update also introduces support for the latest and upcoming processor and graphics technologies and storage devices.
While working on the latest release, we focused on providing our users more opportunity to monitor sensor values on external displays. We also paid special attention to implementing functions requested by our business customers: among other things we have added such smaller but important options to the feature set as support for embedded XSL style sheets in XML reports and SSL encrypted SMTP. For example, this latter option can ensure that the software sends inventory reports and security alerts through a secure channel to system administrators, said Tamás Miklós, Managing Director and lead developer of FinalWire.
