AMD: More Mantle Games Are On The Way
Hello PC gaming fans! With the recent announcement of widespread availability of the entire AMD Radeon R9 Series graphics lineup at original suggested list prices, there could hardly be a better time to get your game on with AMD. This week we're focusing on one of the AMD Radeon R9 Series graphics cards' most compelling attributes: Mantle API support. Mantle is already enjoying rapid industry adoption, but there are a few recent developments that are once again causing Mantle to make news in the media:
On March 19 we announced a technology partnership that will add Mantle support to CRYENGINE® the game engine behind blockbuster titles like Crysis and FarCry.
On March 20 Microsoft announced DirectX® 12, the next major evolution of its own game API. This is terrific news because it really draws attention to the value of low-level programming and Mantle's leading contribution. With DirectX 12 games still over 18 months away and no alternatives in sight for Linux gamers, Mantle's future looks bright.
On April 14 we announced that the upcoming release of Sid Meier's Civilization®: Beyond Earth will support Mantle. In case you're not familiar with the series, the current iteration is Civilization V, which, despite being nearly four years old, remains the sixth most played game according to Steam1. With Mantle in its arsenal, the next installment could be even bigger.
On April 16 we published a Mantle whitepaper, giving developers and enthusiast gamers a deep, technical insight into the technology. Have a look to find out how Mantle delivers such dramatic performance increases.
On May 1 we launched the Mantle SDK beta, which made Mantle available to a much greater number and variety of game developers. That should help accelerate the proliferation of Mantle-enabled game titles.
On June 9 EA announced that three of its upcoming games would support Mantle: Battlefield Hardline, Dragon Age Inquisition and Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare. Each of these brings new features, maps and gameplay to already-popular franchises. If the results we saw with Mantle in Battlefield 4 are anything to go by, these games should absolutely fly on AMD Radeon hardware.

eBay's Same-Day Delivery Service Stalls Out
Anyone here ever use eBay's same-day delivery service? No? Does anyone even know someone that has used the service?
Sources claim that the service is in serious trouble; in addition to losing executives and getting rid of first-party drivers, eBay Now is reportedly "blowing a ton of resources" and may be near shutting down. While the speedy courier option has done well during busy holiday shopping seasons, it reportedly doesn't have enough day-to-day business to stay afloat.

The new Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile Battle Mode trailer is pretty cool. Sure, the suit up process in the beginning is an Iron Man rip-off but the Batmobile stuff looks fun.

Xigmatek Midgard III Review
If you are shopping for a new mid-tower case, you might want to check out this Xigmatek Midgard III review at Overclockers Club before you spend your hard earned money.
I think the Xigmatek Midgard is something I have a hard time recommending, unless the Qi charging station is a must have. There are just far to many established and well reviewed chassis within each price range to make this one stand out. Although the price is still yet to be announced, I can name other chassis, from the Raidmax Horus ($50) to the Phanteks Enthoo Pro ($100), which are much better at those respected price points.

Windows 8.1 Patches Won't Install Without April Update
I guess this is one way to force make sure people update to update their operating system.
"The majority of Windows 8.1 customers have installed the Windows 8.1 update," Microsoft spokeswoman Jill Lovato told CNET in an email on Monday. "For those who have not yet made the transition, those newer updates offered with this month's Update Tuesday will be considered 'not applicable.' Customers' infrastructure will continue to function; however, it should be noted that they can't consume any further updates until they apply the Windows 8.1 Update."

E3 Had More Severed Heads Than Women Presenters
It's so nice to see the recent trend of looking for controversy where there is none continuing full speed ahead.
There were five women presenters speaking presenters at the major press events this year. I'm counting Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft and Sony, all of whom had their major dog and pony shows yesterday. As for severed heads there were at least 8.

I think we all know what needs to be done here...ban internet videos.
The report, which says video is expected to grow to 84 percent of Internet traffic in the United States by 2018 from 78 percent currently, raises questions about whether Internet service providers should prioritize traffic, which has become a controversial issue.

NSA: Our System Too Complex To Stop It From Deleting Data
The National Security Agency, facing lawsuits over its surveillance programs, says that the system is too complex to stop it from deleting data that can be used against the agency in court.
The government's explanation raises more concerns, said Cindy Cohn, EFF's legal director. "To me, it demonstrates that once the government has custody of this information even they can't keep track of it anymore even for purposes of what they don't want to destroy," she said in an interview.

DOTA 2 Players Robbed At Gunpoint While Livestreaming
A couple of DOTA 2 players that were robbed at gunpoint while livestreaming a match have their fellow players to thank for calling the police.
Two men kicked our door in and pointed their guns at us looking for the drugs and guns of some other man who was their original intended target but they got us instead. We only had the latter and offered them everything else we had. They had us face down on the floor and took our belongings (bank cards, phones, jewelry, laptop, etc). They were going to take us to the bank and keep me hostage while SUNSfan took out money and from there god only knows. That was when the cops showed up (again thanks to you). The police have someone in custody.
