Microsoft Releases Office for Mac 2011 14.4.2 Update
Mac owners running Microsoft Office 2011 received an update from Microsoft this week, making improvements, fixing a few bugs and updating files with a 119 MB download. Updates can be downloaded from the Microsoft Download Center.
Microsoft Office 2011 14.4.2 requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later and Microsoft Office 2011 Service Pack 1 to install and run.

Windows 8.1 Finally Passes Windows 8 in Market Share
Windows 8.1 finally passed Windows 8.0 and it only took seven short months. It's amazing what a largely free OS can accomplish. One factor was noticed in this month's latest figures was that Windows 7 also showed a growth spurt since the end of support cycle for Windows XP.
It might be hard to get hold of Windows 7 these days, but that hasn't stopped the OS packing on growth. It went from 49.27 percent in April to 50.06 percent in May -- finally breaking through the 50 percent barrier -- for an increase of 0.79 percent, nearly double that of Windows 8.x.

Ubisoft has announced that Watch Dogs has broken the company's record for first day sales, but did not reveal exactly what those figures were in either sales totals or units. If server strain was any indication of the sales, it was a pretty good day for Ubisoft.

Xbox Live Gold subscribers, both 360 and One owners will be downloading a total of 5 free games over the month of June as part of the Gold Program's rewards.
Xbox One owners will have to wait until later in June to get their two free games due to the need to release a system update for the console to accommodate the changes.

Apple's Enormous Year Finally Starts On Monday
Tomorrow the WWDC kicks off in San Francisco marking what Apple executives believe will be the company's ]biggest product period of the last 25 years. Apple must have something really big up their sleeve to feel this confident, but so far they haven't been forthcoming with any information. That will all change this week, beginning on Monday.
Remember, Apple released the iPhone and the iPad in the past 25 years. Whatever it has in development is supposedly going to be better than those products. So, the pressure is now on for Apple to deliver.

N.S.A. Collecting Millions of Faces from Web Images
This is from the "Relax, the NSA has your back and is here to protect you in spite of yourself" file. The NSA has been collecting millions of images by intercept every day for facial recognition from email, social media, video conferences, and just about every other source imaginable. Another day, another revelation.
It is not clear how many people around the world, and how many Americans, might have been caught up in the effort. Neither federal privacy laws nor the nation's surveillance laws provide specific protections for facial images.

You say you want even faster WiFi? Well then, how about 10.53Gbps on the 5GHz band. That speed was accomplished by Huawei in their lab facility and expect that 10Gbps will be commercially available by 2018.
The firm now believes that ultrafast Wi-Fi could become commercially available from 2018, pending all the usual agreements.

Pirate Bay Co-Founder Peter Sunde Arrested in Sweden
You can run, but you can't hide forever. Peter Sunde, co-founder of Pirate Bay, who has been on the run since 2012 was arrested on Saturday.
Sunde and three other Pirate Bay principles who were also found guilty of violating copyright law had put in multiple appeals over the last several years to try to overturn the convictions, largely without success.
