Trend Micro Partners with Facebook to Protect Accounts
In a new partnership between the social networking giant Facebook and the security vendor Trend Micro, HouseCall is being made available to Facebook users in order to protect accounts against malware. HouseCall, which is a free security solution provided by Trend Micro, will scan and remove malware from infected accounts, enabling Facebook users to continue using the service safely. Facebook users who have a potentially infected account will be given the option to download HouseCall, which will then scan the account and provide a notification when analysis is complete. Record Setting Nanomotor Built
Machines small enough to fit inside of one's body or even within cells have been somewhat common in science fiction. For some time now though, researchers have been working to make these machines a reality for medical applications. Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin have recently succeeded in building a nanomotor that is setting records.
The nanomotor is comprised of just three parts; a nanowire, a nanomagnet, and a microelectrode. These parts are assembled with AC and DC electric fields, which are also used to control the motor. The motor itself is less than one micrometer in any dimension, making it 500 times smaller than a grain of salt. Other nanomotors in this size range are able to rotate at 14 RPM to 500 RPM for up to a few minutes. This nanomotor however reached 18,000 RPM and maintained it for 15 hours. For comparison, the motor in a jet engine spins at the same speed.
To determine how useful it may be for medicine, the researchers coated it with drugs and found that they could control the rate of drug delivery, with the speed of the motor. Next the researchers plan to test the motor next to live cells and develop other components of nanoelectromechanical devices, such as new mechanical controls and chemical sensors.

Steam In-Home Streaming Now Live for Everyone
Steam In-Home Streaming has been in beta testing since January, but now Valve has released it into the wild for everyone to enjoy. In-Home Streaming allows Steam users with multiple computers to utilize the power of their most powerful gaming rig no matter what system they're on, as long as the two computers in question are on the same network. This not only means you can enjoy your resource-intensive games on a low-end HTPC or laptop, but also that you're no longer restricted by OS requirements, allowing you to stream games from your Windows PC to a Mac, Linux, or SteamOS machine, regardless of compatibility.
If you want to use In-Home Streaming, it's as easy as logging into Steam on both computers. Then, from the computer you'd like to stream to, you should have the option to remotely install, launch, and play games just as if you were using Steam normally. BANDAI NAMCO Games claims that, "With good hardware and a fast home network, you’ll forget the game is running remotely."

Mysterious Project V1 Teaser Site Hints at New Game Reveal Next Week, Coming to All Platforms
A new teaser site, projectv1.com, has popped up with a big red "V" in front of a static-y gray helmet that also contains a "V" on it, toward the top. There is a countdown timer set to end on May 30, 2014, and below that, the words "HE IS COMING..." followed by the hashtag #PROJECTV1. Due to the helmet and the site saying "He", the best guess I've seen on Twitter so far is that it's the return of Viewtiful Joe.
Whether it's Viewtiful Joe or something else entirely, the good news is that, no matter what your platform of choice is, you'll be able to play it. A look at the source code reveals that "PS4, PS3, Xbox360, XboxONE, PSvita, 3DS, PC, Wii, Wii U" are all listed. Seeing that the Vita and 3DS are listed, Viewtiful Joe is certainly a viable option, as it's a side-scrolling beat'em-up series, which would easily work on those handhelds. We'll find out for sure next Friday!

Tropico 5 is Kalypso's Most Pre-Ordered Game Ever
While surely not at the level of Ubisoft's Watch Dogs, Kalypso Media Group has a lot to celebrate when it comes to Tropico 5's pre-order numbers. Releasing this Friday, Tropico 5 "has set new internal pre-sale records for the entire company [and] has achieved four times the number of orders secured over its predecessor Tropico 4, which was released in 2011." According to the press release, the game has topped the Amazon pre-sale charts in several countries for many weeks and Steam pre-orders have exceeded expectations.
Tropico 5 is launching for Windows PC on May 23. Mac and Xbox 360 versions are coming this summer, while a PlayStation 4 version is coming this fall.

New Electrode Material for Batteries with Impressive Charge Capacity
The world would be a different place if we did not have the high capacity batteries currently available. The future will need still more powerful batteries though, and creating them is proving to be a great challenge. Researchers at the University of California, Riverside however have successfully developed a new electrode for lithium ion batteries that may just give that needed increase.
The anode of a battery is very important as it is what actually stores the energy, and different materials can store different amounts. Modern lithium ion batteries use carbon anodes, but researchers have known for some time that anodes made of silicon can store significantly more. The problem is that silicon can be much more fragile and harder to produce. The California researchers though were able to find a way to produce highly uniform nanotubes of silicon dioxide in nanostructures capable of great energy storage, while still being resilient.
When the researchers tested the new anode, they found it was able to survive 100 charge-discharge cycles without any capacity loss, and was able to store over three times as much energy modern batteries. The researchers are now working on ways to scale up production of the nanotubes, in order to potentially make them a commercial product.

Batman: Arkham Knight Gets its First Official Gameplay Trailer
Batman: Arkham Knight was officially announced in the beginning of March alongside a great cinematic announcement trailer, but aside from some screenshots, we never actually got a good look at the game itself.
