Next-Gen Consoles are Power Hogs in Standby Mode
If you are looking to conserve energy, don't even think about buying a PlayStation 4, Xbox One or a Wii U. According to a new report from NRDC, the next-gen consoles are consuming two to three times as much energy as their predecessors.
"The new consoles consume more energy each year playing video or in standby mode than playing games," the report reads.

Cricket Wireless Re-Launches Prepaid Service
Call it a rebirth of Cricket Wireless after it was scooped up by AT&T in a deal with Leap Wireless. Cricket now runs on AT&T's LTE network and will start spreading nationwide under the Cricket banner.
Cricket's new no-contract offerings are comparable to its competitors: it has $35-, $45-, and $55-per-month plans that come with unlimited talk and text and 500MB, 2.5GB, and 5GB of data, respectively.

The Evolution of Arcade Games
If you take today's games and work backwards, you will eventually end up all the way back to 1909 playing a rousing game of Skee Ball (which oddly enough is still being played in arcades today). From that lowly arcade beginning every arcade game created since has added to the overall gaming experience and led up to the video games played today.
When pinball machines were invented in 1933, they were originally banned because they were referred to as controversial games of chance, and therefore considered gambling. The addition of flippers in 1947 legalized pinball machines, turning them into a game of skill.

According to some new information from several professional Microsoft stalkers, it's looking like we will not be getting a preview version of Windows 9 until early in 2015.
Microsoft may be working on a cloud-based version of its operating system that could be sold as Windows 365. It would supposedly sell via a subscription model similar to Office 365, according to rumors.

Respawn Entertainment Releases Mobile App for Titanfall
Titanfall now has a nifty little companion application that will enhance your Xbox One playing experience. The App is available for Windows Phone, iOS and Android.
While the app is remarkable, it's unclear why Respawn Entertainment chose to build a stand-alone app for its game, rather than utilize Microsoft's pre-existing SmartGlass feature.

AT&T and Verizon Restricted in 2015 Spectrum Auction
Sometimes being the biggest is not always the best and the FCC has taken the relative sizes of the wireless carriers in consideration on next year's spectrum auction.
Sprint Corp and T-Mobile USA Inc had urged the FCC to ensure their two biggest rivals did not dominate the auction. FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler had agreed, saying last month that Verizon and AT&T already controlled almost two-thirds of the coveted low-frequency airwaves.

2014 Has Been a Busy Year for Steam
Steam has been a busy little enterprise this year. So far in 2014, Steam has already surpassed the number of games released in all of 2013.
It's not just Greenlight, though there are actually more games from established developers appearing on PC. Many of these are adaptations of mobile games, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
