Okay Russia, if you're going to threaten the US with locking our astronauts out of the International Space Station, at least have the rockets to back it up. Latest Russian satellite launch go boom: Paging Elon Musk!

It's one which US lawmakers aren't happy about, either, challenging NASA to come up with contingency plans should relations with Russia fail to recover.

Retailers Form Cyber Intelligence Co-Op
The formation of a system of information-sharing between concerned parties has been created by a host of big named US retailers. The goal is ultimately to protect the stores' customers in general against cyber-attacks like the ones that occurred late 2013-early 2014.

Apple/Foxconn Suspends Vietnam Production Over Riots
Apple's main manufacturer in Asia, Foxconn is back in the news amid riots in Vietnam, but this time, it's not about Foxconn. The riots are directed at China and that country's oil drilling policies, but still ended shutting down six Foxconn factories in Vietnam.

"Employees at our manufacturing sites in Vietnam will take three days of leave from May 17 for safety reasons," Foxconn said in a statement Friday.

Vudu Adds Movie Sharing Feature
Vudu announced this week the arrival of 'Share My Movies', a new Vudu feature which allows users to share their movie library with up to five other people.

The library owner can send an invitation to their content to one of their friends, who will then be granted their own password and username to access it.

AT&T Set To Announce DirecTV Acquisition Sunday
Hold onto your set-top boxes if you are a DirectTV customer, you are about to join the AT&T family. In a deal worth about $50 Billion bucks, AT&T will be taking over DirectTV's 20 Million subscribers. A formal announcement will be made by AT&T spokesmen on Sunday.

"The deal is done," the source said, adding that DirecTV CEO Mike White has already informed senior executives that the deal is finished and plans to give public confirmation Sunday.

Apple, Google Settle Smartphone Patent Litigation
In what seems like an anti-climactic ending to a celebrated battle of the Titans, Apple and Google (as Motorola Mobility) issued a joint statement announcing the agreement to end the patent litigation.

The two companies informed a federal appeals court in Washington that the cases should be dismissed, according to filings on Friday.

Shocker: Cable TV Prices Rose Four Times the Rate of Inflation
The cable companies have found a simple way to combat the masses of customers fleeing their services: they just raise the prices to cover the cost. A report from the FCC puts the cable companies charging an average increase of four times the nation's average for inflation.

Additionally, "equipment prices for basic and expanded basic services increased by 4.4 percent and 4.2 percent, respectively, for the 12 months ending January 1, 2013," the report stated.
