Windows Build 6.3.9740.0 Shows Up in App Logs
It's a little early to speculate on the next version of Windows, so of course we are going to do it anyway. Those who make it their business to deduce the facts, have noticed a change of the build numbers at Microsoft, leading speculation that either the update to Windows (8.2) is being finalized or an early version of Windows 9 is getting updated.

We expect that the next update for Windows will arrive sometime around August and we would expect that Microsoft will include the Start menu with that build considering they already showed it off at BUILD.

SanDisk Announces 4TB SSD, Hopes for 8TB Next Year
This week SanDisk announced that it will be releasing its 4TB enterprise-class SSD. Included in the announcement was the aim of SanDisk to produce 6 and 8TB units by next year. SanDisk officials also expect that the capacity of their SSDs will double every year or so.

AT&T Mulls $40 Billion Merger with DirecTV
AT&T is considering a move into the satellite-TV business with a possible proposed merger with DirectTV at a time when rival Comcast is in the process of buying Time Warner Cable.

Given the increasing consolidation in the broadband industry, an AT&T merger with DirecTV would make sense for both companies.

SpaceX Wins Court Injunction to Block US Air Force
SpaceX, the company which currently has made three successful missions to replenish the ISS, has also made some progress in its legal action against the US Air Force. The injunction bars the Air Forces' only contractor, Lockheed Martin and Boeing, from purchasing Russian Rocket engines used in satellite launches.

Comcast Nears Deal to Stream EA Games to TVs
Electronic Arts and Comcast have been testing the feasibility of buying games through Comcast's X1 cable box system for the past two years and now the negotiations for a partnership are presently under way.

Comcast would make the games available on X1, a video operating system with apps and an interface that is considered the most sophisticated in the cable industry, the sources said.

Bill Gates No Longer Microsoft's Largest Shareholder
Bill Gates has been in the business of selling off his shares in Microsoft for charity over the past few years and has finally reached a milestone: he's no longer the largest individual shareholder. That honor now rests with "He who will not leave the building". Yes, it has to be our favorite Ex-CEO, Steve Ballmer, who now owns the most individual shares at 333 Million.

Announcing his retirement plan last August, Ballmer wrote in an email to employees, "I cherish my Microsoft ownership, and look forward to continuing as one of Microsoft's largest owners."

Oculus Rift Launch Date Officially Confirmed for 2015
If you are awaiting the release of the Oculus Rift, better start saving those nickels and dimes, the official launch date will be sometime in 2015 depending on the quality and amount of content from the developers according to the official Oculus Rift statement.

Apparently the delay has been largely due to developers. As with all technology worth its salt, it's no good having a shiny bit of kit if there's no decent software to go with it.
