IT Salary Survey 2014
It's time once again for the IT Salary Survey! This time around there is an interactive map to help you gloat / feel bad about what you make compared to others in the industry.

IT employees who participated in Computerworld's annual salary survey share that view of the market. Intel to Change Financial Reporting Structure
Beginning with the publication of Intel Corporation's first-quarter earnings report on Tuesday, April 15, the company will revise the presentation of its operating segments to reflect changes in our organizational model, which are aligned with our critical objectives. The company is providing our financial reporting structure now, as shown below, in order to give visibility into the new model. Actual results will be reported with the first-quarter earnings report. These changes will be comprised of the following:

PC Client Group (PCCG): PCCG will now include the results of our gateway and set-top box business, previously reported as the Service Provider Group within the other Intel architecture (Other IA) operating segments.
Data Center Group (DCG): DCG will now include the communications infrastructure portion of the Intelligent Systems Group, which had been previously reported in the Other IA operating segments.
Internet of Things Group (IOTG): The newly formed IOTG includes the embedded portion of the Intelligent Systems Group. Wind River Software Group (Wind River) will also transfer from the software and services operating segments to be part of the newly formed IOTG.
Mobile and Communications Group (MCG): MCG includes the Phone Group, the Tablet Group and Multi-Comm, all previously part of the Other IA operating segments.
Software and services operating segments: The software and services operating segments will reflect the removal of Wind River. McAfee, Inc. (McAfee) and the Software and Solutions Group will continue to be part of the aggregated software and services operating segments.
All Other: All other will now include the remaining components of the Other IA operating segments, specifically: New Devices Group and Netbook Group. All other will continue to include Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) and Corporate.

Yahoo Makes New Push Into Video Content
I like Marissa Mayer as CEO of Yahoo but a lot of the stuff they are doing lately sure seems like "me too!" kinda stuff.

Yahoo Inc. is raising its ambitions in online video, with plans to acquire the kind of original programming that typically winds up on high-end cable-TV networks and streaming services.

Enermax ETS-T40 Black Twister
The gang at techPowerUP! had a lot of good things to say about the Enermax ETS-T40 Black Twister CPU cooler. According to the review, the cooler looks as good as it cools and it doesn't cost a fortune.

SilverStone Tundra Series TD03
The SilverStone Tundra Series TD03 is on the test bench at PC Perspective this afternoon. For comparison purposes, you can see our evaluation here.

The fin density of the radiator does hurt the unit's performance, but the construction innovations used in affixing the radiator fins to the frame does make up for this performance deficit. As for the mounting mechanism, it is by far one of the easiest mounts to use that I have encountered. The locking standoffs and push-in plastic lock nuts makes the board mount easy to install and maintain.

Twitter Use Linked To Infidelity And Divorce
I'm not saying I believe the results of this study, but I don't use Twitter and I'm still married. Just sayin'.

New research shows that Twitter use could actually be damaging to users' romantic relationships. Russell Clayton, a doctoral student in the University of Missouri School of Journalism, found that active Twitter users are far more likely to experience Twitter–related conflict with their romantic partners. Clayton's results showed that Twitter-related conflict then leads to negative relationship outcomes, including emotional and physical cheating, breakup and divorce.

Aggression From Video Games 'Linked To Incompetence'
A new study found that violent video games lead to aggression... if you are an incompetent boob. Thanks to Jereme P. for the heads up.

Feelings of aggression after playing video games are more likely to be linked to gameplay mechanics rather than violent content, a study suggests. Researchers carried out a range of tests, including making a non-violent version of popular game Half-Life 2. Games modified to have counter-intuitive, frustrating controls - leading to feelings of incompetence - produced more aggressive reactions.
