Razer Announces Nabu Smartband
Announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, Razer is launching its new smartband, the Razer Nabu. The device is able to connect to a smartphone in order to provide notifications to a user such as incoming calls, texts, emails, and even application updates. Razer is including more technology than just notifications however, as the Razer Nabu is also able to track data for self-analysis. Examples of data that the smartband can track and collect include band-to-band communication, biometric data feedback, location information, and sleep statistics. An included application can take this data and share it with others, depending on the permissions set by the user. Privacy was a forethought in development, with the ability to opt-in and opt-out of the collective services. The Razer Nabu allows for social discovery, finding nearby friends and acquaintances based on settings defined by the user.
The Razer Nabu features an accelerometer, altimeter, and cylindrical vibration motor. The Nabu utility application for the smartband is able to work on iOS and Android devices. Battery life is also substantial, with the Razer Nabu able to go seven days between charges.
Available worldwide within the first quarter of this year, the Razer Nabu currently does not have a set price for retail. Developers can purchase the smartband for $49, however.

New Closed Loop Cooler From Corsair
Corsair has revealed its latest addition to the ever expanding Hydro Series closed loop CPU coolers. This new cooler, the H105, should allow for even better cooling than its predecessors. This is due to the increased radiator thickness, which increases the total surface area to allow for even greater heat dissipation. The new radiator is 38 mm thick compared to the H100's 27 mm. George Makris, Product Manager for Cases and Cooling at Corsair, explains this choice: "For 240mm radiators, we’ve had a lot of requests for a thicker version with more surface area to improve cooling performance." The cooler will come with two SP120L PWM 120 mm fans. These fans run from 800-2700 RPM, has a maximum noise level of 37.7 dB, and can push up to 73 CFM. The fan speed can be managed in the BIOS with no mention of Corsair's Link software being able to do it.
As for mounting, the cooler uses Corsair’s new tool-free CPU mounting block, which should make it much easier to install the cooler, and it is available for a wide range of Intel and AMD sockets. It also features kink-resistant rubber tubes, and a high-quality on-board ceramic-bearing pump. The cooling block is made of copper to ensure fast heat transfer.
If aesthetics is your thing, then Corsair has got your back too with an LED backlight logo on the CPU block and a replaceable color ring, so the cooler can match any rig no matter the color theme.
The MSRP is $119.99 in the United States, and it is available now from Corsair's website. Other distributors should have it available some time in January.

Sony's Gaikai Service Now Called PlayStation Now; Arriving this Summer
Back in July 2012, Sony acquired cloud gaming service Gaikai and since that time, gamers have been eagerly awaiting its roll-out. Today, at CES 2014, Sony has officially announced its new streaming game service, entitled PlayStation Now (PS Now). According to the official PS Blog post, PS Now leverages "Gaikai's advanced cloud-based technology" to allow users to stream video games across multiple devices, starting with the PlayStation ecosystem and eventually moving to non-PlayStation devices like Sony BRAVIA televisions. Maybe we'll even see a PC client one day!
While pricing has not been disclosed, gamers will be able to acquire access to games in three ways: renting games, purchasing games, or through a subscription. It is unclear how the subscription would work, just as it is unclear if users will have access to previously purchased games for free or at least discounted.
PS Now will enter Closed Beta at the end of January in the US with a full roll-out expected to occur this Summer. Other regions have not yet been announced. The service will begin with PS3 games, but may expand to include PS2, PS1, and maybe even PS4 games in the future. PS Now will be available on PS4 and PS3 to start, with PS Vita following those two. On the CES show floor, Sony is currently streaming The Last of Us on the Vita, so the functionality already exists, but the company probably wants to ensure stability first before offering it on more devices.
If you would like to beta test PS Now, I suggest keeping your eye out on the PS Blog – that information is not yet available.

Corsair Unveils Its First Mini-ITX Case
About six months ago, Corsair unveiled its largest case to date, the Obsidian Series 900D, which was welcomed with open arms by many enthusiasts as it allowed them to build their ultimate PC. Now the company is ready to unveil its smallest one, the Obsidian Series 250D.
The 250D is a mini-ITX case that caters to a different audience, but that does not mean Corsair took any shortcuts when designing this case. Despite being a mini-ITX case, it has room for a 290 mm long graphics card, so there is no need to run at a lower resolution just because you opted for a case that is easier to carry around. There is also room for a standard 200 mm PSU, two tool-free 3.5"/2.5" combo bays, two tool-free 2.5" only bays, and a full-size 5.25" drive bay. To ensure that all the components stay cool, the case has room for up to five fans with two being included from the start. It is also possible to use a 120/140 mm radiator in the front and a 120/240 mm radiator in the side.
The case is a tiny thing with dimensions of 11.4x10.9x13.81 inches and a weight of only 9.7 lbs, so it should be no problem carrying it to various LANs, even when it is filled with components.
The MSRP is $89.99 in the US and it should be available in later in January.

Razer Introduces Project Christine - A Modular PC Concept Design
Razer likes to kick off things with a bang at CES, as past years have brought us Project Fiona (the Edge tablet) and the Switchblade Concept (still waiting on that, but elements are in the Blade laptop). So, what does 2014 bring? How about Project Christine? Razer is dubbing it the "world's most modular gaming system," and it's pretty easy to see why that is the case. Starting with the case, it sort of resembles the Thermaltake Level 10 if nothing except for the modular compartments. Project Christine takes it to a whole new stage though, as it's a fully modular design allowing for CPUs, graphics cards, memory, and storage to be added or swapped out with ease.
Project Christine makes use of PCI Express to automatically sync components together, so there shouldn't be any hassle when you want a new video card or processor at the helm. Storage can be added whenever you want, and Razer is even claiming you can run multiple operating systems at once (no specifics on just what that entails, however). Modules can be added in whatever order you want, with active liquid cooling and noise cancellation keeping everything cool and quiet. It also allows for Razer to factory overclock the components without compromising any warranties or thermal limits. Project Christine is quad-SLI capable, can have an SSD + RAID 5 HDD array, and features a touchscreen LED display for easy viewing of maintenance information and controlling aspects of the computer.
Right now, Project Christine is just a concept, albeit a very unique and interesting one. Razer co-founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan is very excited about it, as he calls it "the first gaming system that is able to keep pace with technology and could allow consumers to never buy another PC, or gaming system, again. We have a history of bringing incredibly innovative concept systems to market and it’s fair to say that Project Christine is a very exciting new prospect for future development."
So, does that mean we'll be seeing Project Christine make the leap to reality before long? Quite possibly, and if it does it could usher in a whole new range of gaming computers. Systems. Whatever you'd like to call it.

Far Cry: The Wild Expedition Provides Four Far Cry Games in One Package
According to Eurogamer, Ubisoft has announced a new compilation called Far Cry: The Wild Expedition, containing Far Cry, Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3, and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Outside of the console-only spin-offs, that means Wild Expedition includes all the major Far Cry releases. While a price has not been unveiled, Eurogamer reports that it will be "at a knocked-down price" compared to what it would cost to purchase separately. Of course with Steam sales, that may not be entirely true, but we will see. Either way, Far Cry is a great franchise, so if you've never played a Far Cry game, keep your eye on this. You can also read my Blood Dragon review to find out just how ridiculously awesome that game is.
Curiously, Wild Expedition will not be coming to next-gen consoles. The compilation will release on February 14 for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
