It looks like Kevin Smith isn't a fan of YouTube's Content ID system.

Clerks and Jay and Silent Bob director Kevin Smith has spoken out to voice his support for gaming video creators in the ongoing controversy over YouTube's recently expanded copyright policy. Speaking on George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight in Canada, Smith said YouTube's policy is negatively impacting creators' freedom of expression.

Woman Kidnapped And Held Ransom For A PlayStation
I know it is hard to find a console this close to Christmas but this is not the way to go about getting one.

Two people were indicted Friday for allegedly binding a woman to a chair for six hours, shaving parts of her head, and threatening to kill her if someone didn't bring them a Playstation gaming system as ransom.

Colts Owner Buys All His Players An Xbox One
If you thought it was hard to get your hands on an Xbox One for Christmas, imagine trying to find enough for a whole football team.



Christmas came early for the Indianapolis Colts on Friday. When players arrived at the team's facilities they found a present in their locker and not just any present: the gift was an Xbox One courtesy of owner Jim Irsay. According to the Indianapolis Star, every single player on the Colts roster got one.

Google Bus Vandalized During Protest
This story lacks fire hoses, riot shields and pepper spray...but someone did break a bus window.

Activists blocked three buses carrying Bay Area tech workers to their Silicon Valley jobs on Friday, breaking a window of one of the vehicles. It was the second demonstration this month targeting the buses, which are rapidly becoming a symbol of the surging animosity between the tech world and everyone else in the Bay Area.

More Evidence Released of Megaupload's 'Mass Infringing Use'
I'm not sure why both sides keep releasing information to the public like this, shouldn't we be hearing this stuff in court?

The U.S. Department of Justice has released a new 191-page filing in which Megaupload is portrayed as a massive piracy hub. The Government is using data obtained from Megaupload's seized databases to back up and expand several of the allegations against Kim Dotcom and his co-defendants. Among other things, the evidence suggests that "repeat infringers" drove a lot of traffic to Mega's sites. The document further shows that roughly 43% of all files streamed on Megavideo received a takedown notice.

NSA Programs Could Be Redesigned To Prevent Abuses

Capping off a week of fireworks over the NSA's surveillance programs, President Barack Obama said Friday that he's open to reform but that specifics won't come till the New Year. He also called the current debate over spying necessary but said disclosures by Edward Snowden had "damaged" the US and its intelligence capabilities.

Red 5 Removes CEO Mark Kern
Being ousted from the company you co-founded has to suck.

The Red 5 board of directors has voted Mark Kern out as CEO of the company he co-founded, reports Game Front, which may be part of the reorganization they announced a few months ago along with word they were re-working PvP in Firefall, their MMORPG. Kern is the former team lead for World of Warcraft, and was the last of the four Blizzard expatriates who co-founded Red 5 to leave the company.
