Google begin inviting more Google Glass Explorers
Google are sending out more invites, which will see more users walking around with Google Glass Explorer Edition devices, making me more and more jealous as the days go by. Google has invited many more people, with the following message being sent around:
google_begin_inviting_more_google_glass_explorers
Hi there
When you asked us how to get Glass on this site, we told you there would be more chances to join the Explorer Program...someday. Well, today's the day.
The sneak peek of the Glass Developer Kit (GDK) is available now, making it possible to build new and innovative kinds of Glassware. We're now inviting you, as a developer, to purchase Glass, become an Explorer, and join us in taking the next step in developing for Glass.
Click on the purchase code below to begin your adventures with Glass.
It's still at that $1500 price, but that is not too bad at all for a wearable device - I'd be happy to slap down $1500 if Google would send me an e-mail. I'll just cry here in the corner waiting for the consumer edition.

Give your paper airplanes some extra horsepower with the PowerUp 3.0
I am willing to bet that almost everyone who reads this post has at some point folded a piece of paper into the shape of an airplane and sailed it across the room, I know I certainly have many times. This morning I received an email from a friend who I attended grade school with. We were team members in a paper airplane competition once, and not to brag but we almost won the whole thing.
give_your_paper_airplanes_some_extra_horsepower_with_the_powerup_3_0
The email contained a link to a Kickstarter campaign that features something I have been dreaming about since I was in the 6th grade. PowerUp 3.0 is basically a control and propulsion system designed to attach to any paper plane. It appears that all you have to do is clip the PowerUp 3.0 module to a paper airplane, sync with your smartphone and the sky is truly the limit. When I say that this thing is cool, I am not exaggerating in the slightest.
The PowerUp 3.0 module has an effective range of about 180-feet and is constructed of carbon fiber to make crash damage a thing of the past. The modules inventor says that anyone can fly the airplane since it has built-in algorithms that correct for user error and assist in extra thrust when banking. At the moment the PowerUp 3.0 only supports iOS devices, but if the $150,000 stretch goal is met an Android app will be created. I have already jumped in at the early-bird special, and as an avid Android user and paper airplane enthusiast, I desperately hope to see that stretch goal met. Head over to the source link below to pledge to get your own PowerUp 3.0.

BlackBerry teams up with 12 Android OEMs to pre-install BBM on phones
BlackBerry Messenger is undoubtedly one of the most popular messaging services in the world, and since its arrival on Android and iOS it has grown even bigger. Today BlackBerry announced that it has partnered up with 12 Android Smartphone OEM's and struck a deal that will see BlackBerry Messenger pre-installed on their devices.
blackberry_teams_up_with_12_android_oems_to_pre_install_bbm_on_phones
While this may sound like a major leap forward for the Canadian smartphone manufacturer, none of the 12 OEMs on the list are big-ticket names such as Samsung, HTC, LG, or Motorola. The listed OEMs are all respected names in their regions, so this could be a very big deal in getting BBM into more emerging markets.
BlackBerry says that the following OEMs have partnered with it to bring BBM to its phones pre-installed before purchase. All of the new partners are located in Africa, India, Indonesia, Latin America, and the Middle East where BBM is already quite popular.
  • Be
  • Brightstar
  • Celkon
  • EVERCOSS
  • IMO
  • Micromax
  • Mito
  • Snexian
  • Spice
  • TECNO
  • TiPhone

Jury declares that Newegg infringed on Spangenberg patent, toll wins
Over the last year or so, a war has been waging in east Texas between Newegg.com and the notorious patent troll Erich Spangenberg, and today the war is finally over. Jurors departed the court room and returned the guilty verdict after just three hours of deliberations.
jury_declares_that_newegg_infringed_on_spangenberg_patent_toll_wins
Newegg.com was found to infringe upon all four of the patent assets owned by TQP Development, a patent firm owned by Spangenberg. The patent is said to cover SSL and TLS encryption combined with the RC4 cipher. These are protocols and safety measures commonly used by online retailers to ensure their customers information is protected.
Newegg was ordered to pay $2.3 million which is less than half of the $5.1 million TQP was claiming in damages. So what does this mean for Newegg? I would suspect that Newegg will enter into a licensing agreement with TQP and will continue using the system that is in place. Alternatively, Newegg could develop an entirely new system that it could release into the public domain and forever invalidate TQPs patent.

NZXT unveiles the new Kraken G10 GPU mounting kit
Cooling your CPU use to be the most important part of your PC if you wanted to extract any extra performance from the machine, but now CPU cooling is easy and very efficient. The hardest component to cool in a modern PC is the discrete GPU. There are aftermarket air coolers available, but they are few and far in between.
nzxt_unveiles_the_new_kraken_g10_gpu_mounting_kit
Liquid cooling your GPU is another option, but is expensive and something only advanced users should tackle, until now that is. Today NZXT unveiled a new mounting bracket kit for its Kraken G10 liquid All-in-One CPU Cooler that allows the G10 to easily mount to many of the popular discrete GPUs on the market today. The mount allows the Kraken G10 to directly attach to the GPU chip while a built-in fan keeps the rest of the card cool.
I feel that this is a great idea and wonder why no one has thought of it before now. Many PC enthusiast have at least one All-in-One cooler laying around from previous machines and they could be put to use quite easily if mounts were available. The mounting kit is available in red, white, and black finishes, and retails for just $29.99 at NZXT's armory store. For a list of compatible video cards, head over to the NZXT source link below.
nzxt_unveiles_the_new_kraken_g10_gpu_mounting_kit
The Kraken G10 is designed to finally bring high performance, cost-effective cooling to the GPU by incorporating existing all-in-one liquid cooling technology to a majority of modern video cards, regardless of chipset or manufacturer.
Made entirely of steel, the Kraken G10 bracket allows users to mount NZXT Kraken coolers as well as non-NZXT brand liquid coolers to their GPU with ease. (See compatibility list for compatible coolers) Included with the bracket is a 92mm fan used to cool the VRM and other video card components.
Combined with the high performance abilities of the Kraken cooler, the Kraken G10 offers over 40% cooling increases over stock coolers*, a level of performance that is traditionally only achievable with a costly custom liquid cooled setup. Combined with NVIDIA's GPU Boost 2.0 or AMD's PowerTune, Kraken G10 equipped video cards can perform cooler and faster than ever.

ZTE to unleash a cheap smartwatch mid next year
ZTE's marketing boss has confirmed the Chinese company will release its own smartphone mid next year, but the details on this wearable device are non-existent, unfortunately.
zte_to_unleash_a_cheap_smartwatch_mid_next_year
One big point we do know is: that it will be much cheaper than the smartwatches on the market now, like Samsung's Galaxy Gear. The device will be aimed at the mainstream market, and will begin by only working with ZTE handsets, a nail in its unreleased coffin. But, to keep it fair, Samsung's Galaxy Gear smartwatch is limited to just a few of Samsung's handsets, but for a smaller company to come in and try to make waves in the smartwatch market, I would make it work with all devices.
ZTE is also working on other wearable devices, such as a augmented reality device, like Google Glass. It should be an interesting year for wearable devices next year.

RAW file support, native burst mode camera mode coming to Android
Google has confirmed it will be providing RAW file support for Android, as well as native burst shot for the Camera application on Android, too. These functions have been rumored, but now confirmed.
raw_file_support_native_burst_mode_camera_mode_coming_to_android
The news has been announced by Google spokesperson Gina Scigliano, who said: "Android's latest camera HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) and framework supports raw and burst-mode photography. We will expose a developer API in a future release to expose more of the HAL functionality." RAW support will allow users to create professional-style photos by using photo editors, just like people who snap photos with a DSLR can.
Sure, it won't be as good as using a DSLR camera, but RAW support will only be embraced, not pushed away.

Gamers can review any game on Steam, where Steam Reviews will show ratings from those reviews, and is in beta right now. Better yet, you'll be able to do some Review Inception, where you can rate other gamers' reviews. This could work well, but it could also open Pandora's box, too.

This Steam Machine prototype has me excited, what do you think?
Next year, there are two companies that have me the most excited: Valve and Oculus VR. The latter, for its awesome virtual reality device, Rift, and the former, for its multiple product releases, and software releases.
this_steam_machine_prototype_has_me_excited_what_do_you_think
One of these, is the Steam Machine. The latest Steam Machine prototype has been teased by Engadget, which has had the first look at iBuyPower's prototype for a Steam Machine. It looks awesome, and looks nothing like a PC - which is exactly what Valve, and PC makers, need right now. There's a gorgeous light bar through the center of it, which looks like it changes color, an awesome touch.
this_steam_machine_prototype_has_me_excited_what_do_you_think
There's a gigantic Steam logo on top, which is nice to see on a console. Better yet, it'll be just $499 and include a decent GPU in the AMD Radeon R9 270 - which is an $180 GPU on its own. One top of this, there'll be a multi-core AMD processor inside, and a Steam Controller. We're talking about specs that beat the next-gen consoles, with a price that matches them. This is what I know: I want one, and I want one now.

Corsair Flash Voyager Mini 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Review
corsair_flash_voyager_mini_64gb_usb_3_0_flash_drive_review
Flash drives offer us a solution to transfer files to take with us on the go. For the most part, these devices have always had one downfall, especially if you're working on a notebook - and that's size. With notebooks and tablet PCs shrinking each generation, there comes a time when the storage we use with these devices has to shrink down to size as well.
Recently, Corsair announced the availability of a complete range of new flash drives. The Mini, as the name states, is a small form factor USB 3.0 flash drive. Capacities range from 16GB and 32GB models, all the way up to an impressive 64GB model. Compatibility includes Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating system. The Flash Voyager Mini carries a very solid five year warranty.
corsair_flash_voyager_mini_64gb_usb_3_0_flash_drive_review
The Corsair Mini carries a sleek dark brushed metal surface, with logos adorning the sides of the drive. At the top, the key ring is secured straight to the body of the drive.
corsair_flash_voyager_mini_64gb_usb_3_0_flash_drive_review
Of course, the USB 3.0 port is properly colored to denote its capabilities.
corsair_flash_voyager_mini_64gb_usb_3_0_flash_drive_review
Here we have put the Voyager Mini pictured up against a few other pico drives we have tested previously.
One of the lesser-known features of running Microsoft's new operating system Windows 8 is the native capability of USB Attached SCSI or UASP. In benchmarking flash drives, we utilize ATTO Disk Benchmark followed by DiskBench and our custom set of real-world data, and is by far the most important comparison when looking for a flash drive for everyday use.
Recently we have added our very own Price vs. Performance charts for both read and write performance of each drive, for these charts we take the average sequential performance over five runs and divide it by the price per GB. All pricing information is updated before a new drive is added and is taken from certified channel retailers such as Newegg or Amazon.
corsair_flash_voyager_mini_64gb_usb_3_0_flash_drive_review
The Corsair Flash Voyager Mini is factory formatted with the FAT32 file system, insuring compatibility between Windows and Macintosh computers. The usable capacity after formatting is 57.6GB.
corsair_flash_voyager_mini_64gb_usb_3_0_flash_drive_review
ATTO results were promising for the Voyager Mini. Here we see the drive peak at a rate of 79 MB/s read and 20MB/s write.
corsair_flash_voyager_mini_64gb_usb_3_0_flash_drive_review
DiskBench testing threw a slight curve at the Mini, where we find the drive towards the bottom of our chart. Though, it is slightly faster than the Super Talent Pico.
corsair_flash_voyager_mini_64gb_usb_3_0_flash_drive_review
Moving over to price/performance, the Voyager Mini landed itself right behind the PQI i-Mont and ahead of the Super Talent Pico.
While the Corsair Flash Voyager Mini certainly isn't a burner when it comes to performance, it does offer tremendous capacity in a very small form factor. An added bonus to this is the over durability of the unit, being a single piece design.
Touching on the drives performance, where it does offer decent read speeds of 70 MB/s. Unfortunately, most of the work with flash drives is done by writing groups of files to them and that's where we only managed 20 MB/s.
Pricing at this time for the 64GB capacity model is set at $54.99.

Exclusive Flicker-Free and Less Blue Light Technologies Offer Double Protection for Healthier Eyes
MSI offers the best and most comfortable visual experience for corporate environments. The MSI All-in-One PC (multi-touch optional) features an anti-glare display to reduce background reflections in offices, well-lit shop floors, and in study rooms, thereby helping to reduce eyestrain and enabling users to better concentrate on the contents of their computer monitor without being distracted by reflections.
The Flicker-Free technology integrated into the AP200 display stabilizes the screen's output current and prevents flickering undetectable to the naked eyes. Even when used for extended periods of time, Flicker-Free technology effectively reduces eyestrain, improving productivity and quality of life. In addition to the Flicker-Free display, the AP200 also features exclusive "Less Blue Light" technology to effectively reduce visible blue spectrum energy emitted from the display, thus reducing eyestrain and preventing vision damage.
All New MSI Military Class 4 Components
MSI remains committed to quality and reliability, and is proud to introduce the 4th generation of MSI Military Class components into the AP200 All-in-One PC. MSI Military Class 4 Components, including SFC, Hi-C CAP, and Dark CAP, are MIL-STD-810G certified by a third-party laboratory to guarantee stability and excellent power efficiency under prolonged high-load conditions.
All-in-One System Corporate Applications Help Boost Work Efficiency
At its core, the P-series consists of a complete unibody PC system with fully supported I/O ports for corporate users. The MSI AP200's two COM ports are best suited for commercial POS applications, such as connecting barcode readers, credit card readers, receipt printers, and more. The USB 3.0 interface offers a fully featured I/O interface with MSI Super Charger (power-off charging support) technology designed for commercial applications, including meeting presentations, shop display outputs, and high-speed (10x faster) transfer of HD contents as well as large file formats.
Pivot Stand for Height Adjustment and Auto Rotation (optional)
With an optional height adjustable pivot stand (pivot, left-right rotation, vertical position, and incline angle), the MSI AP200 is designed to meet a wide variety of different needs, uses, and range of applications. The AP200 Pivot Stand also offers auto screen rotation, commonly associated with smart phones and tablet computers, to automatically and conveniently rotate the screen display when flipped 90 degrees without having to manually tweak software display options.
