Noctua NH-L9i Low Profile Heatsink
FrostyTech says the Noctua NH-L9i low profile heatsink is perfect for projects with extremely tight space constraints. If you are working on a small form factor system or HTPC, you might want to check out this review.

Noctua's low profile NH-L9i heatsink stands 36mm tall so it will fit into the smallest of small form factor chassis. The NH-L9i is designed to cool Intel socket LGA115x (1155/1156/1150) processors only, which is a departure from the one-size-fits-all approach we're used to from heatsink manufacturers.

Google's Eric Schmidt Lambasts NSA Over Spying
Google, the number two collector of personal data on the planet is speaking out against the number one collector of personal data on the planet.

It's really outrageous that the National Security Agency was looking between the Google data centers, if that's true. The steps that the organization was willing to do without good judgment to pursue its mission and potentially violate people's privacy, it's not OK," Mr. Schmidt told The Wall Street Journal in an interview.

I guess we all know where the FBI will be tomorrow. As far as the march goes, I predict a crowd in the hundreds turning out for the million mask march.

Tomorrow is Anonymous's Million Mask March. It's designed as a global series of multi-city demonstrations, although it's not clear what's being demonstrated. Here's the one-line description of the event: "Anonymous, WikiLeaks, The Pirate Party, Occupy and Oath Keepers Unite Marchers, Occupiers, Whistleblowers and Hacktivists."

Bungie Talks Lack of PC Destiny Plans
I could have sworn that one of the biggest benefits of the upcoming generation of consoles was that game development would be easier across all platforms. Instead we're just seeing PC gamers getting shafted again.

While Osborne wouldn't be heavily drawn into talking about a PC version of the upcoming shooter, he reiterated what we've heard from him before: it's a possibility, but don't expect it any time soon. "It's a huge challenge to ship four platforms and a massive opportunity to reach a new audience," he said. "We know there are a lot of people out there asking for PC and we know that there are a lot of gamers that would willingly give us money, but what we have to do is make sure we're focused enough to bring a good experience to any platform that we ship on. What we 100 percent are not going to do is spread ourselves so thin that it negatively harms the other platforms. So right now we have the four platforms, which is a lot to focus on."

Netflix Starts Streaming 4K Content
The good news: Netflix is streaming 4K content. The bad news: Currently the only thing you can watch is eight minutes of standard test footage of people riding bikes.

From Monday, US subscribers to the video streaming platform who have already made the sizable financial investment that a 4K UHDTV demands will be able to watch the eight-minute film in its full resolution. It is available in six different frame-per-second formats -- 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50 and a data-allowance-busting 59.94 frames per second. But don't get too excited: the video is made up of standard test footage scenes such as market stalls and people riding bikes albeit at an incredibly high definition.

The Worst Things About Working At Google
The worst things about working at Google? I thought that place was full of fairy dust and served unicorn meet in the cafeteria. According to employees of the company, that isn't always the case.

The worst part of working at Google, for many people, is that they're overqualified for their job. Google has a very high hiring bar due to the strength of the brand name, the pay & perks, and the very positive work culture. As a result, they have their pick of bright candidates, even for the most low-level roles.

Western Digital Adds Helium To Its Hard Drives
Aside from making 6TB drives possible, I wonder if the Helium makes Western Digital's new hard drives give off a goofy high pitched whine now?

All that drag from the air limits the number of disk platters that can be stacked inside a single drive. Right now, the standard calls for five platters inside a one-inch-high drive enclosure. Building a sealed drive that's packed with helium eliminates that drag, and thus allowed for platters to be packed inside the enclosure more tightly. Where you once could fit only five platters, you can now fit seven. That means more storage capacity per drive. The first drive out of the chute has a capacity of six terabytes, versus four for conventional drives.
