ASUS ROG MARS 760
The crew at ocaholic just published a review of the ASUS ROG MARS 760 video card. If you are GPU shopping, it wouldn't hurt to give this review the once over.
For this edition of ASUS MARS Graphics card, ASUS has thought about something different than their usual receipe. This time, there aren't two high-end chips but two GTX 760 mid-range GPUs. You can find these chips on one single PCB combined with a powerful and beautiful cooler. Other than that the GPUs received a really decent factory overclocking and we're curious to see what this card is capable of.

Sony: PS4 Failure Rate More Than Double Initial Estimates
Sony has confirmed that the PS4 failure rate has jumped from .4% up to 1%. And the countdown to people freaking out over my accurate but intentionally misleading headline in 3...2....1.
With less than 1 percent of shipped systems affected by these problems (up from 0.4 percent in a previous claim), the number of broken systems is reportedly within the "expected range" for a product launch. While we're certainly used to new devices that ship with a few bugs in tow, that figure still leaves a lot of unhappy gamers -- one percent of the million-plus PS4 buyers would still equate to 10,000 people. Sony says it's working to get these systems replaced; let's hope it moves quickly.

Digital Delivery Allows Companies To Ship Broken Products Without Refunds Or Returns
Alright, I'm posting a link to this story because I know you guys are going to have something to say about this. Is this guy onto something or just on something?
Not so long ago, if you bought a book with missing pages or a DVD that skipped, or a CD or video game that wouldn't play you took it back to the store and got an exchange or a refund because obviously the manufacturer did not intend to provide you with an incomplete or broken product. The relatively new era of digital media delivery has improved upon this by allowing content providers to patch files and fix errors, but it's also allowing companies to knowingly release inferior and/or broken products, often without giving the consumer any way to seek redress.

AMD Radeon R9 290 On Linux
All you alternative OS folks out there will definitely be interested in this review of the AMD Radeon R9 290 on Linux.
AMD unveiled the Radeon R9 290 graphics card at the beginning of November as one step down from the new flagship Radeon R9 290X graphics card. Numerous Windows reviews praised the graphics card for its great performance, but what wasn't clear at the time was how the Linux performance and compatibility was for this new $399 USD graphics card. AMD hadn't offered any review samples to Phoronix for conducting any Linux-based testing and benchmarking, but it's more clear now why that didn't happen: the Linux performance isn't stellar.

PlayStation 4 Costs $381 To Build
If this information is correct, Sony might actually make a little money on each PlayStation 4 sold. While it isn't much, it is a whole hell of a lot better than losing money on each console.
AllThingsD got an early look at the analysis, in which the firm estimates the cost of those parts, plus what it costs to assemble them, at $381. That is only $18 shy of the PS4's $399 retail price, leaving Sony little profit margin on the sale of the device itself.

Analyst Says PC Industry Nearing Bottom
According to analysts, The PC industry is nearing the bottom and the downturn in PC sales could actually slow this quarter.
Gartner analyst Tracy Tsai predicts the global slide in personal-computer shipments will slow in the fourth quarter to a 3% year-on-year drop, compared with an 8.6% fall in the third quarter. PC makers have been battling sluggish sales since tablet computers and mobile devices burst onto the scene and stole away consumers. Next year, however, world-wide shipments should be roughly flat compared with this year, Ms. Tsai said.

Xbox Designers Review Sony's PlayStation 4
Who better to review the PlayStation 4 than the people responsible for designing the Xbox? I think you might be surprised with what they have to say about the latest and greatest from Sony.
Even if you don't know the design consultancy Teague, you know their work--ranging from the original Polaroid camera to the interiors of almost every Boeing plane to date. They were also the firm Microsoft tapped to design their original Xbox, conceptualize controllers for the Xbox brand, and create the Xbox 360 racing wheel. Imagine our delight when they volunteered to apply their expertise in a critique of the Xbox's latest and greatest competitor, the PlayStation 4.
