The FCC to Release Mobile Broadband Speed Test App
What started as a project three years ago and was basically forgotten, will be resurrected by the new FCC chair, Tom Wheeler to gauge the actual mobile broadband speeds across the nation. The App will be released sometime next spring.

The agency says that the new app "will do everything the old app did — allow you to run real time tests of latency, upload and download speeds on your smartphone."

Microsoft Releases W8.1 Patch for Mouse Gaming Lag
Gamers cries for a fix for lagging mouse movement while playing games in 8.1 has been heard by Microsoft. The patch addresses problems with 22 games variations and more if you are computer savvy.

The Microsoft Support website has launched a page with download links for the update that cover the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 8.1, along with a download for Windows Server 2012 R2. Microsoft's support site says the patch fixes the problem.

Microsoft Offers Windows 8.1 to Non-Profit Organizations
Microsoft has made it very easy for non-profit organizations to upgrade to Microsoft's newest operating system. This latest philanthropy on Microsoft's part will also increase the overall adoption numbers of 8.1.

In a post on its Corporate Citizenship blog, the company said that those groups can now apply to get their Windows 8.1 copy via their software donation program.

Germany and Brazil have introduced a draft resolution to ban illegal electronic surveillance, obviously inspired by the recent revelations of NSA spying on both countries by the US.

"Illegal surveillance of communications, their interception and the illegal collection of personal data constitute a highly intrusive act that violates the right to privacy and freedom of expression and may threaten the foundations of a democratic society."

No more delays or excuses from Rockstar, if you are due to be on the receiving end of the $500K online stimulus package, you should have received, or soon will receive your account deposit from Rockstar.

That package consisted of every player who had logged into and played GTA Online during October being gifted 500,000 GTA dollars.

Sign of the times: Google will no longer support what the company considers to be an outdated browser. Notifications will be start going out to the IE9 browser users within the next few weeks.

IE9's being cut loose because Microsoft released IE11 in October, meaning Google will now only make sure its apps work with IE11 and IE10.
