FX-9590 now available in retail kit, at massive discount
Remember the FX-9590? AMD introduced the hot-clocked Vishera chip in June and loudly touted its 5GHz Turbo frequency. The 220W flagship was supposed to be reserved for pre-assembled systems from boutique builders. However, it soon popped up for sale as a bare processor—and with a whopping $920 price tag. By August, the FX-9590 was selling on its own at several vendors, including Newegg, which had the chip listed for $880.
So, what about now? Funny story. The FX-9590 is down to $350 at Newegg. That's for the bare chip, but there's also ...

Double-wide Lian Li tower courts high-end builds
As much as I agree with Cyril's belief that most desktops would be better served by smaller form factors, I have a soft spot for monster chassis and the gloriously excessive builds they tend to encourage. Lian Li's new PC-D600 looks like a pretty good example of the breed. This double-wide design accepts Extended ATX motherboards on one side and a stack of hard drives on the other. As the promo video reveals, there's loads of room for fans and liquid cooling radiators.

High-PPI displays, new Intel chips collide in waterproof Fujitsu convertibles
Fujitsu announced a slew of mobile systems on Tuesday, including the high-PPI ultrabook Cyril wrote about. I'm more interested in Transformer-style convertibles, so another system caught my eye. The Stylistic Q584 combines a Bay Trail Atom Z3770 SoC with a 10.1", 2560x1600 IPS display. The CPU can be paired with up to 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of flash storage, while the touchscreen supports both capacitive multitouch and digitizer-based stylus input.

Watch Dogs system requirements call for 64-bit OS, 6GB of RAM
If you want to play Watch Dogs on the PC, you're apparently going to need a pretty beefy rig. Minimum system requirements posted on Uplay suggest that the game will need a 64-bit OS and at least 6GB of RAM. PC Gamer published the requirements along with some instructions on how to get to them, but it looks like I'm restricted to a Canadian version of the Uplay site that hasn't been updated. Anyway, here's the damage:

Leaked slide details Radeon R9 290X specs, R9 290 variant
Reviews of AMD's first Radeon R7 and R9 graphics cards hit the web overnight, but we're still waiting for the big daddy. The R9 290X revealed during AMD's recent GPU press event was the only new Radeon shown based on the next-gen Hawaii graphics chip. Early listings suggest BF4 editions of the 290X will be priced in the $700-800 range, and a fresh leak indicates that a less expensive variant may be in the, ahem, cards. A presentation slide posted on Hermitage Akihabara details specifications for not only the Radeon R9 290X, but also a cut-down R9 290 model with fewer shader ALUs and a lower peak clock speed.
According to the leaked specs, the R9 290X will have 2816 shader ALUs clocked at "up to 1GHz." The R9 290X will supposedly trim the ALU count to 2560 and ...
