BlackBerry sees 10 million BBM downloads in 24 hours
BlackBerry says its new app that opens up the proprietary BBM messaging platform to Android and Apple users was downloaded 10 million times in just over its first 24 hours of availability. Apple cuts prices on Macs, takes a jab at PCs
Apple on Tuesday introduced new versions of the MacBook Pro laptops and cut prices, but not before taking a jab at PC makers. The company's MacBook Pro with Retina Display and 13-inch screen starts at $1,299, which is $200 cheaper than the previous model. The 15-inch model will start at $1,999, while the previous-generation laptop was $2,199. The laptops are available now.

SAP bets on HTML5, open source for its mobile app platform
SAP is planning to rely heavily on HTML5 and open standards within its products for building mobile applications, and is embracing the concept of BYOT (bring your own tools) in order to draw interest from developers. Version 3.0 of SAP Mobile Platform, which was announced Tuesday during the Tech Ed conference in Las Vegas, will combine SAP's NetWeaver Gateway, Sybase Mobiliser and Syclo Agentry products "to meet current and future mobile app use cases," according to the announcement.

Cracked Windows RT 8.1 update fixed, back in the Windows Store
The Windows RT 8.1 update is back on the Windows Store, days after Microsoft took it down in response to installations that went wrong and left users with devices that couldn't boot up. The bug affected only Surface RT tablets, which are made by Microsoft. The company estimates that about one out of 1,000 Surface RT customers who downloaded the 8.1 update were affected.

SAP set to preach the HANA gospel to developers
SAP is unveiling a series of enhancements, services and deployment options for its HANA in-memory computing platform in hopes of enticing more partners and customers to begin building software products with the technology.
