Remembering audio innovator and technology pioneer Ray Dolby
Ray Dolby, audio pioneer and founder of Dolby Laboratories, died yesterday at the age of 80. Dolby was the inventor of Dolby NR, a noise reduction technology that virtually eliminated tape hiss. He later laid the ground work for modern surround sound, which is still being innovated by Dolby Laboratories today.
