The Windows Era Is Over
Oh no! The Windows era is over! This is not a repeat from 1986, 1991, 1996, 2002, 2006 or 2012.
On the earnings call, Microsoft admitted that traditional PC form factors, Windows' home turf, are in a state of terminal decline. Demand among business users was up only moderately, and by Microsoft's own estimates, consumer demand declined by over 20%. That it isn't to say that Microsoft is ready to abandon Windows -- far from it. Management still believes Windows has a future. I disagree.

Instagram More Depressing Than Facebook
Instagram is more depressing than Facebook? I don't know, that's a tough one there.
A closer look at Facebook studies also supports an untested but tantalizing hypothesis: that, despite all the evidence, Facebook is actually not the greatest underminer at the social-media cocktail party (that you probably weren't invited to, but you saw the pictures and it looked incredible). Facebook is not the frenemy with the most heads. That title, in fact, goes to Instagram.

Eidos Montreal Founder Resigns
It's never a good thing when the founder of your company resigns. It's even worse when they decide to dish a little dirt on the way out.
Stephane D'Astous, founder and general manager of Eidos Montreal, has resigned from Square Enix. The developer is best known for their work on Deus Ex: Human Revolution and the upcoming Thief reboot. D'Astous blames Square Enix for a "lack of leadership, lack of courage" following the company's "extraordinary loss."

Valve Admits To Greenlight's Failings, Working On Fixes
Responding to rather harsh criticism of Steam Greenlight, Valve's Tom Bui acknowledged there are issues and said the company is working to fix them.
The primary problem right now is that we simply cannot ship as many games as we'd like. There are many reasons for that, but at the end of the day, those don't really matter to you, the developers, and nor should they. What matters is that we give customers the chance to buy your games and let them vote with their dollars. We realize that we are failing in this regard and are working to fix it.

Wearing Google Glass Into A Strip Club
Places to wear Google Glass: In public. Yes. Apple store? Yes (they all wish Apple made them). Strip club? Not so fast buddy.
Hill tested the boundaries and discovered there is one place where Glass should not venture a strip joint. As a social experiment, Hill walked to the front door of the club and made it past the doorman. At the bar, however, his glasses drew immediate scrutiny. "Are you videotaping?" the bartender asked, grabbing a manager who told Hill to put the device out of sight.

SEC Accuses Man Of Running Bitcoin Ponzi Scheme
I don't know why people try to pull these scams because they never work. It doesn't matter if you are using dollars, euros or bitcoins, the crooks always get busted.
The SEC alleges that Shavers promised investors up to 7 percent weekly interest based on BTCST's Bitcoin market arbitrage activity, which supposedly included selling to individuals who wished to buy Bitcoin "off the radar" in quick fashion or large quantities. In reality, BTCST was a sham and a Ponzi scheme in which Shavers used Bitcoin from new investors to make purported interest payments and cover investor withdrawals on outstanding BTCST investments.

iPads Restrict Children's Vocabularies
If this is a problem in your household, it isn't Apple's fault. One or more of your parents may need to be smacked up side the head though.
The iPad generation will learn fewer words, experts fear, as using text messages, emails and computers to learn could be stunting children's vocabulary. "These are visual rather than auditory, so it is likely that they will end up with a lower average number of words than previous generations," he said.

Do you ever wonder how they come up with numbers like this? I mean, how do you put a price tag on "reputation damage?"
