Apple Developer Center Was Hacked
Apple shut down its developers site last week and used the 'down for maintenance' excuse for the downtime. Apple has now notified its developers that the site was hacked and some private information may have been accessed. The site remains down for a complete overhaul of the site's security protocol.
Last Thursday, an intruder attempted to secure personal information of our registered developers from our developer website. Sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed, however, we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some developers' names, mailing addresses, and/or email addresses may have been accessed.

Nvidia Announces New Ship Date for Shield
Today Nvidia announced that without any further glitches like it experienced last month, just prior to the intended release date, the company's Android-themed handheld gaming device will begin shipping on July 31st.

Colorado Town to Considers Drone Hunting Licenses
Deer Trail, Colorado is scheduled to consider a proposal to issue hunting licenses to shoot down UAV's. A license to hunt drones would cost $25, but for every drone you shoot down, a $100 bounty would be paid out. The town board will consider the matter on August 6th. "We do not want drones in town," Phillip Steel, a resident in town who drafted the ordinance and submitted it for approval by the town board, told The Denver Post. "They fly in town, they get shot down."

Google's Chrome App Launcher is Now Live for Windows
The Google App Launcher has made its way through Dev Channel testing and has gone live to Windows. Originally created by Google for use with Chrome OS, the new App Launcher is now operational on Windows 7 and 8, with OS X release close behind. Google has made no official comment, preferring to keep the release low-key and quiet for the time being.
At first glance the App Launcher is nothing more than a collection of links that load on your browser. But with the introduction of packaged apps and desktop notifications, Google is slowly building something that could be seen as a more serious threat to established desktop platforms.

Subscribers to the Ubuntu Forum have just had all of their personal information stolen from the database. Only the Ubuntu Forums were breached and does not affect any other Ubuntu/Canonical service unless you reused your password.
The notice said "every user's local username, password and email address" from their database was stolen.

A bill has been introduced to make it legal for Americans to record conversations with government employees in an effort to hold Federal government officials accountable. As the law stands, recordings are only permitted with IRS officials.

Lenovo Website Halts Sale of Windows RT Hybrid Tablet
The Lenovo website has removed the listing for the Windows RT IdeaPad Yoga 11 and halted sales of the device. Lenovo will continue to offer the Lenovo Yoga 11S for sale. This adds to the growing number of indicators that time is growing short for Microsoft's RT tablets.
The Yoga RT's woes follow in the wake of Dell's price cut on the XPS 10 Windows RT tablet to $299 a couple of months ago. For now, however, Dell is continuing to sell the device.
