Infinity Blade: Dungeons Officially Cancelled
Epic Games had some good news and some bad news for Infinity Blade fans. The good news is you can download Infinity Blade II free from the App Store this week. The bad news is the next installment of the game has been officially cancelled at least for the foreseeable future.

Dungeons was under development at Maryland-based Impossible Games, which unfortunately has gone the way of all things. Mustard assures us that the Infinity Blade world is still growing and that they have plans for more games, books, and possibly other products.

New Wii U Firmware Update Available
Nintendo released a firmware update for the Wii U this week to address the system's standby mode and overall system stability and usability improvements. Nintendo is also promising another round of firmware updates in the near future.

More importantly, however, Nintendo has noted that another update to Wii U system functionality is planned between the end of September and beginning of October.

1 in 10 Americans Use Smartphones During Sex
There is a time and place for everything in this old world and cellphone use during sex is not one of them. That being said, almost ten percent of all Americans admit to using their phones while engaged in sexual activity. Some people will do anything to ring that bell.

"It's no wonder people in relationships feel like their phones are cramping their love life — 12% of respondents in a relationship said they believe their smart phone gets in the way of that relationship," the study noted.

Chromebooks: A Bright Spot in the Dark PC Market
The PC market has been turned upside-down in the last year with the top of the line manufacturers in decline due to many factors, one of which being the high cost. Enter the Linux-based, Chrome OS-powered Chromebook to the rescue on the low end scale. The computer that most thought would never catch on with the PC buying public has been leading the way in the sub-$300 PC market.

"The entire low-end market, under $300 is growing. There's a trend towards aggressively priced PCs. These PCs are filling in the space left where the netbook used to be."

Navy Unmanned Drone Makes Carrier Landing
For the very first time, a robot drone has landed itself on the deck of an aircraft carrier while the carrier was in motion. This was not a remote controlled landing, but an onboard computer controlled landing without outside help. The Navy's X-47B 'Salty Dog 502' is a creation of Northrop Grumman at a cost of $1.4 Billion dollars each. The X-47B was just the first round of this new technology and now both X-47B's will be retired to aviation museums.

Google is still cleaning out its App closet of unused or rarely used applications and latest the go is Alfred, the local recommendation App. Alfred hasn't been updated in over a year and scarcely anyone noticed. Time to go, Alfred, time to go.

Alfred acted as a "digital concierge" that could tell you the best places to eat, drink, and party based on your tastes.

AT&T Is Buying Leap Wireless
AT&T has offered to buy Leap Wireless for the substantial price of $1.19 Billion. The prepaid wireless carrier will add to AT&T's quest for additional wireless spectrum. AT&T will be maintaining Leap's prepaid service Cricket for its customers and giving them access to its 4G network.


The announcement was made by AT&T today, with the carrier paying $15 per share for the company, more than double its current stock price of $7.98 per share.

Audio Pioneer Dr. Amar Bose Has Died
Dr. Amar Bose, founder of the audio company which bears his name, has died at the age of 83. Dr. Bose was one of the leading acoustic and audio engineers in the world and was responsible for much of the acoustic technology we use today.

Dr. Bose was born in 1929 in Philadelphia, and holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in electrical engineering from MIT. He also served on the MIT faculty for 45 years.

Researchers Develop Disc with 360TB Capacity
Having massive storage problems and need a little larger storage solution? Researchers at two universities joined forces to create a glass storage disc capable of handling 360TB of data and keep it stored without degradation for an estimated one million years.

The laser works by "shooting" rapid pulses of light onto the glass disc, being able to apply the data in the form of "nanostructured dots" in three layer forms that are spaced a mere 5-micrometers apart from each other.

Konami Asks Its Users to Change Their Passwords
If you have an account over at the games publisher Konami's site, now would be a good time to beef up that password you have been using. Konami has announced finding a security breach that may have compromised at least 35K accounts over the past month.

The games publisher said that the customer information that might have been compromised included users' names, addresses, dates of birth, telephone numbers and email addresses.

Square Enix Reverses Course on 'Deus Ex'
File this one under 'that sure didn't last very long'. Square Enix kicked up some dust this week when it was revealed that jailbroken devices would be prevented from firing guns in Deus Ex: The Fall. After the dust settled a bit, Square Enix thought better of the move.

We have not been clear in our communication earlier this week when we launched Deus Ex: The Fall. We did not state clearly that the game would not support jailbroken devices and so we will be switching this off via an update, so that all the supported iOS devices will be able to play the game in the near future.
