MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING LGA 1150 Motherboard
If you are looking for a new LGA 1150 motherboard for your next upgrade or system build, make sure you read our evaluation of the MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING motherboard.

MSI's GAMING series is back with an all new entry. The Z87-GD65 GAMING is certainly a promising contender and is one of the more unique offerings we've seen from MSI. We liked the last GAMING board we looked at, and we have liked all previous GD-65 series motherboards, hopefully this followup entry can measure up.

Google Plugs 'Master Key' Security Flaw
Good news for 99% of all you Android users out there, Google finally plugged that master key security flaw.

A Google spokesman confirmed to V3 the company has released the patch to core partners and OEMs, but added the firm is yet to see any evidence suggesting the flaw has been actively exploited by cyber criminals. Even with the patch fix released, it will still remain up to manufacturers and partner companies to roll it out to the general public. In the past companies have been slow to release updates to Android.

Patriot Viper 3 Black Mamba DDR3-2400 CL10
If you are in the market for memory, check out this review of Patriot's Viper 3 Black Mamba DDR3-2400. Here's a quote from the full review:

When it comes to high end desktop memory, Patriot is not the brand that you would frequently find on the cutting edge of progression. Nonetheless, this maker has proven to be a solid competitor in the mid-range segment of the market. To see if it's still there, let us take a look at a recent offering, namely, a 2400C10 set Patriot called Black Mamba.

Sega Sues Bankrupt THQ
What are the odds that Sega will get anything from the now bankrupt THQ? I'm going to say...zip, zero, zilch.

Sega is suing bankrupt publisher THQ for £630,000 over Company of Heroes 2 pre-orders on Steam. Sega filed a claim with the Delaware US Bankruptcy Court worth $941,710.93, which is the amount Valve paid THQ for pre-orders of the World War 2 real-time strategy game through Steam.

China To End Ban On Game Consoles?
The South China Morning Post says that the Chinese government may lift the ban on video game consoles. That means that the Chinese may finally be able to play the game consoles they make for Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.

China is expected to soon end a 13-year ban on the sale of gaming consoles with only one key condition: foreign firms like Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft must make their products in Shanghai's new free trade zone. The milestone move is part of a detailed policy blueprint for a "Shanghai free trade zone", endorsed by Premier Li Keqiang.

In Win GT1 Mid-Tower Case
The gang at ThinkComputers just put the finishing touches on their review of the In Win GT1 mid-tower case this afternoon. You can see our evaluation here.

Over the years In Win has always been able to create very attractive cases that we have really enjoyed. The thing about the cases is that they would always seem to be able to keep the price down. This is again the case with the GT1. A mid tower case that has great looks, support for long video cards, 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives, a hard drive dock and USB 3.0. All of those features come at a price of $64.99, which seems like a steal.

Apple Found Guilty of Price Fixing
I like how the Apple spokesman said the company will "fight against these false accusations" after the courts found "overwhelming" evidence to the contrary. Apple says it will appeal.

U.S. District Judge Denise Cote said Apple knew that no publisher could risk acting alone to try to eliminate Amazon.com's $9.99 price for the most popular e-books so it "created a mechanism and environment that enabled them to act together in a matter of weeks to eliminate all retail price competition for their e-books."

How The Word 'Hacker' Got Corrupted
The word "hacker" doesn't mean what it used to and, to make matters worse, everything from social engineering tricksters to script kiddies are labeled hackers.

There seems little point trying to turn back the tide now. The hacker as a bad guy has caught on and hacking is definitely perceived as a bad thing by the public at large. But it is unfortunate for those who grew up using "hack", "hacking" and "hacker" without the bad connotations. The speed with which the new definition has swept in has left those in the know missing a word, and a useful one at that.
