Fractal Design Define XL R2
Another review of the Fractal Design Define XL R2 has popped up on the internet today. This time around it is the crew at APHNetworks doing the reviewing.
The hydraulic bearing fans have a smooth running motor with no annoying noise during operation; combine that with thick insulation material simply keeps the noise in, and the heat out. I am also quite impressed at its ability to eliminate certain types of noise. While it doesn't magically cancel out noise made by very fast moving fans, the Fractal Design Define XL R2 does a fine job and keeping my already very quiet parts even quieter than before.

Dropbox Aims to Replace The Hard Drive
"Aims to replace the hard drive altogether?" That's a pretty bold statement, don't you think?
Aiming to replace the hard drive altogether, Dropbox is making moves to expand operating as just a simple cloud storage app to a fully-fledged platform of services. "Sync is the new save. We're never going back," declared Houston, adding this particular feature is a problem that affects everyone.

TPB Founder: "Shut Down The Pirate Bay"
Something tells me the RIAA and the MPAA would like to take Mr. Andersson up on this.
Currently on a speech tour in Brazil, Tobias Andersson, one of the original founders of The Pirate Bay, says the site should shut down to make room for something better. "The Pirate Bay in its current form must end. It's not built and meant for what is coming. The future copy fights will need something better, safer, faster," he says.

Apple and Amazon End 'App Store' Lawsuit
Holy crap, I can't believe it, a lawsuit that ended amicably? *sniff* I'm so proud of you two!
U.S. District Judge Phyllis Hamilton in Oakland, California, on Tuesday ordered that the case be dismissed at the companies' request, averting a trial that had been scheduled for August 19. This came after Apple issued to Amazon a covenant not to sue over the online retailer's use of the term, eliminating the need for Amazon to pursue a counterclaim seeking permission.

SanDisk's Extreme II SSD
Tech Report just published a review of the SanDisk Extreme II SSD. Our evaluation can be found here for comparison purposes.
When SanDisk first introduced us to its Extreme II SSD, I thought we were in for more of the same. My eyes rolledbut only once, because this isn't another cookie-cutter SSD. Like most solid-state drives, the Extreme II relies on an array of MLC NAND for storage. However, it also has a built-in flash cache based on SLC memory.

Do You Need 4K HDMI Cables?
Damn, I was just on my way to Best Buy for new triple platinum plated, 24k gold, hyper wire Monster Cable 4K HDMI cable. Now what do I do?
With the slow and inevitable transition to Ultra HD 4K happening whether it's necessary or not, it's not surprising that cable manufacturers are jumping at the chance to sell new and more expensive "4K" HDMI cables. But guess what -- you don't need 4K HDMI cables, because your current HDMI ones can probably do 4K just fine. Seriously.
