Mozilla Launches Firefox OS Simulator 3.0
Mozilla rolled out its new 3.0 version of Firefox OS Simulator for Windows, Mac and Linux. Many new features were added and improvements made to the existing features.

The arguably biggest addition to version 3.0 is the new Push to Device feature. If you have an existing device supporting Firefox OS, you can connect it via USB and push apps installed in the Firefox OS Simulator directly to it.

U.S. Adds 200 EV Charging Stations in April
A growing number of public electric vehicle charging stations all across the US is signaling a shift in acceptance by private businesses and municipalities alike. Businesses are beginning to see the upside of free vehicle charging while shopping as an incentive to shoppers.

In total, the U.S. now has 5,865 public EV charging stations, up from 5,678 at the beginning of April, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

Blockbuster On Demand App Lands on iOS
Blockbuster has rounded out its 'Blockbuster On Demand App' access by adding iOS to its lineup. The App has been available to other popular platforms since January. The 'Blockbuster On Demand App' is now available for download in the App Store.

With Blockbuster On Demand, users purchase access on a per-movie basis rather than subscribing to a monthly, all-you-can-eat streaming access plan.

Kim Dotcom Wants to See Top U.S. Lawman
Eric Holder, the US Attorney General, will be in New Zealand next week and Kim Dotcom wants to see him in person. Holder will be in New Zealand to attend a scheduled meeting of international Attorneys General to discuss various legal matters, including cybercrime.

It was unclear on Thursday whether Holder would appear in public. His speech at the University of Auckland is planned primarily for students and will be closed to the public and the media, although his U.S. speeches are usually open to the media.

Google Fiber Coming to Shawnee, Kansas
Google has announced on Thursday it will be expanding its Fiber service to Shawnee, Kansas. The announcement was made minutes after the Shawnee City Council approved the service. This officially adds Shawnee to the list of 'most hated cities in the US'.

Shawnee's Mayor Jeff Meyers said during the city council: "The ultra-high speed Google fiber network will enhance the quality of life for people in Shawnee by providing faster access to essential digital resources. This will grow and strengthen Shawnee's competitive advantage in the years to come."

Staples Now Offering 3D Printers for Sale
Staples announced that 3D printers are available for sale now through Staples website and will be in selected US stores by the end of June. Along with the printer, Staples will also carry accessories and cartridge refills.

Selling 3D printer at Staples will likely help the technology to reach more of a mass market, although the printers may end up losing some of their cool factor when placed in the same store that sells fax machines and surge protectors.

Hotmail Is Officially Dead: Microsoft Shifts to Outlook
After transitioning more than 400 Million Hotmail accounts over to Microsoft's Outlook.com (not to be confused with Microsoft's Office Outlook, just got to love their naming schemes) Microsoft finally declared Hotmail officially dead this week. The upgrade has been an ongoing project for many months in preparation for the switch to Outlook.com

Users with Hotmail addresses can continue to use those accounts as long as they choose. However, Hotmail address owners can opt to claim an Outlook email address.

Florida Supreme Court Rules on Cell Phone Searches
The Florida Supreme Court has ruled this week that police cannot search through a person's cell phone without first obtaining a search warrant. The ruling stems from a burglary case where evidence leading to conviction was obtained directly from the suspect's confiscated cell phone.

"At this time, we cannot ignore that a significant portion of our population relies upon cell phones for email communications, text message information, scheduling, and banking," read the majority opinion, authored by Justice Fred Lewis.

Thirty six years ago, IBM introduced the world to the first personal portable computer. The IBM 5100, was portable in the sense that you could take it with you, but at 50 pounds, you sure weren't going to take it very far. That really makes your bulky five pound notebook feel light as a feather.

Fifty pounds may seem bulky today — and, no you couldn't use it unless you plugged it into the wall — but the 5100 arrived at a time when most machines were still the size of your desk, if not larger.

Here Comes the World's First Bitcoin ATM
Lamassu, a New Hampshire-based company, will be showcasing its table-top sized Bitcoin ATM this month at the Bitcoin Foundation 2013 conference in San Jose. The ATM works much like a standard bank ATM, accepting different dominations of currency, which is then transferred and credited to the user's Bitcoin account.

The machines themselves are about a quarter the size of standard ATMs, according to the company. Lamassu also notes that converting cash to bitcoins takes about 15 seconds using one the startup's machines—as opposed to the weeks it can take to process a bitcoin order via an online broker.

Facebook Traffic Drops by 10 Million in the US
Facebook is losing site visitors in the US by the Millions, but despite the losses, Facebook has still managed to show an increase in its profits by $14 Million in Q1 2013 according to a Nielsen report.

The data counts the number of individual browsers on the Facebook website using any type of device, but does not include the numbers of people using the Facebook app.
