Pirate Bay Co-Founder to Run For European Parliament
One of the Pirate Bay founders is running for office. This is a nice change, usually when we see one of them running, it's almost always from the law.

Peter Sunde has announced he will run in the European Parliament elections next year. Sunde, the former spokesman for The Pirate Bay, will participate for the Finnish branch of the Pirate Party. Sunde has yet to sit out a prison sentence for his previous involvement with the infamous BitTorrent site but hopes to emulate the Swedish Pirate Party's previous successes when they claimed seats for two MEPs.

Google Loses Case Involving Autocomplete Search Suggestion
Isn't this like the third or fourth time the courts in Germany have smacked down Google?

Google Inc. (GOOG), operator of the world's largest Internet search engine, lost a case in Germany's top civil court over how its autocomplete function adds words to searches. If alerted about libelous words that are added to a name entered in the search slot, Google has to block them, the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe said, overturning two lower court rulings. The website had added "Scientology" and "fraud" to the plaintiff's name, the court said in a statement on its website today.

White House: There No Reason Not To Tax Violent Media
To be fair to the vice president (and politicians in general) you could remove "violent media" from his statement and insert literally anything and he would still support it.

Media and entertainment that portray violence should be subject to a special tax. Biden replied that there was "no restriction on the ability to do that; there's no legal reason why they couldn't" place a tax on violent media, Sister Marjorie Clark told Politico.

America's Tech Giants Don't Like You
This is a rather interesting article. Whether you agree or not, it sure makes you think twice about some of the companies named in this article.

When Steve Jobs died in October 2011, crowds of mourners gathered outside of Apple stores, leaving impromptu memorials to the fallen businessman. Many in Occupy Wall Street, then in full bloom, stopped to mourn the .001 percenter worth $7 billion, who didn't believe in charity and whose company had more cash in hand than the U.S. Treasury while doing everything in its power to avoid paying taxes.

Siri Tells Users: Get To The Point
Apple has tweaked Siri's software so that it cuts you off when you are talking and asks you to get to the point. I guess that means you have one less reason to visit a Genius Bar.

If you're the type of person who asks long-winded questions, Siri would like to change your ways. Apple's server-powered software assistant is now telling users to trim down questions that are too long or otherwise complicated -- a move that iLounge suggests is to retrain how users interact with the service versus an actual human being.

Windows "Blue" is now simply Windows 8.1 and it will be a free upgrade to all Windows 8 owners. The company also plans a preview of Windows 8.1 at the end of June.

The update to the struggling Windows 8 operating system, known by the code name "Blue," will be called Windows 8.1, a naming convention that Microsoft has used for its software updates for years. To date, the Windows division has updated the various versions of the Windows 8 operating system 739 times, Reller said. Windows 8.1, however, will offer significantly more changes than those frequent fixes.

North Carolina Banning Tesla To Prevent Unfair Competition?
Poor Tesla. It seems like every time they get a good bit of news, something like this comes along and kicks them in the junk. Thanks to Kelly Grant for the link.

The proposal, which the Raleigh News & Observer reports was unanimously approved by the state's Senate Commerce Committee on Thursday, would apply to all car manufacturers, but the intended target is clear. It's aimed at Tesla, the only U.S. automaker whose business model relies on selling cars directly to consumers, rather than through a network of third-party dealerships.
