Google cozies up to developers with Google+ Sign-In
Google is making it easier for app developers to connect with users on its social network through Google+ Sign-In, a new feature that allows people to sign into third-party apps using their Google+ credentials. The authentication system lets Google+ users sign into outside apps with their existing user name and password, and includes Google's two-step security verification when logging in from a mobile phone. The user's Google+ info is automatically pulled into the app with the tool, which is available to Android, iOS and Web application developers.

MicroStrategy sells off contact center software division
BI (business intelligence) vendor MicroStrategy is getting out of the contact center software business, having sold off its Angel subsidiary to Genesys for roughly $110 million in cash. The deal is expected to close in March. Angel offers an array of cloud-based, self-service contact center products, with interactive voice response, chat and other capabilities. Angel has developed a series of customer service applications specialized for various industries, such as banking and health care, according to a statement released Tuesday.

Researchers find loophole in Google's two-factor authentication
Researchers from two-factor authentication provider Duo Security found a loophole in Google's authentication system that allowed them to bypass the company's two-step login verification by abusing the unique passwords used to connect individual applications to Google accounts. According to the Duo Security researchers, Google fixed the flaw on Feb. 21, but the incident highlights the fact that Google's application-specific passwords don't provide granular control over account data.
