First Windows 8 Update Halfway Done I know, I know, these are rumors from "a couple sources" but, for the most part, ol' Mary Jo usually gets pretty reliable info. The last and final milestone build of Windows Blue will be M2, said this contact, who requested anonymity. Comments Read More ...

Google Looks To Cut Funds To Illegal Sites Wait, are we talking about Google cutting off ad money to pirate sites? Because, if so, that should be easy. All this other talk about Visa, Mastercard and PayPal seems like it would be a separate issue. The idea of shutting off finance to more websites is already popular with many in the book publishing, music, film and television industries, who want to see tougher measures to control piracy. However, this is the first time Google has begun to embrace the idea so readily. Comments Read More ...
Higgs Boson Particle May Spell Doom For the Universe The Higgs Boson particle is going to kill us all. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but in a billion years from now it's definitely going to kill us all. For example, the mass of the new particle is about 126 billion electron volts, or about 126 times the mass of the proton. Nanotech 'Sober Pill' Could One Day De-Drunk You I guess something like this could come in handy if you found yourself without a designated driver but, aside from that, this is just another example of technology gone wrong. "We show that nanocomplexes containing alcohol oxidase and catalase could reduce blood alcohol levels in intoxicated mice, offering an alternative antidote and prophylactic for alcohol intoxication," the scientists write. Their method essentially kicks up a body's ability to metabolize alcohol into overdrive. Comments Read More ...

Bungie: 'Nobody Plays Shooters With A Mouse And Keyboard' I'm not sure if you guys realize this or not but nobody wants to play FPS games with a mouse and keyboard anymore. You might as well just sell your PC. "We did a bunch of ambitious things on Halo deliberately to reach out to people," Jones told us. "We limited players to two weapons, we gave them recharging health, we automatically saved and restored the game -- almost heretical things to first-person shooters at the time. We made the game run without a mouse and keyboard. And now nobody plays shooters the way they used to play them before Halo 'cause nobody wants to." Comments Read More ...
