FBI warns commercial spyware has made jump to Android A recent FBI warning on Android malware includes the mobile version of spyware that was sold to law enforcement and governments, demonstrating how such commercial applications can pose a threat to private companies and consumers. The FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center said this week that FinFisher was among the latest malware brought to its attention, along with a Trojan called Loozfon. Ericsson's Bowser lays groundwork for calls from mobile browsers Ericsson has launched the world's first WebRTC-compatible browser for mobile devices, which will allow developers to integrate voice and video communications in their Web-based applications. Salesforce.com boosts social analytics options in strike at Oracle Salesforce.com said Friday that it has significantly expanded the social analytics options available to customers who use its Marketing Cloud, in its latest move in an ongoing arms race with Oracle to offer businesses the best tools for mining the social Web. Marketing Cloud users can now tap social analytics offerings from 20 partners from a single dashboard, according to Salesforce.com. Cloud storage specification gets ISO approval The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has ratified the Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI), a set of protocols defining how companies can safely move data between private and public clouds. The Storage Networking Industry Association's (SNIA) Cloud Storage Initiative Group submitted the standard for approval by the ISO last spring. Microsoft hopes to attract VMware users with free migration tool Microsoft's free Virtual Machine Converter (MVMC) tool is now available for download. The tool is used to convert virtual machines that today run on VMware products into a format compatible with Microsoft's own virtualization environment, Hyper-V, the company said in a blog post on Thursday. Apple tries to kill its own Java on most Macs Apple yesterday started scrubbing most Macs of older Java browser plug-ins, a move that will force users to download the software from Oracle.
